The closer an object seems to be pulled into a black hole the slower it seems to move. When the object reaches the black hole's event horizon, it will fade slowly in a reddish tint. Conversely, an object can never reach a white hole's event horizon, it repels everything near it.

I thought it was all based on perspective, if you fall into the black hole time speeds up, and you can watch the universe go by, while on the other hand, if you watch someone go into a black hole, they slow down and stretch into the event horizon, thus why light warps around the black hole it's stretched.

So, I doubt you guys will read this or anything but in Gundam (I know off to a great start) back in the original the premise "The basic Newtype concept was originally proposed by Zeon Zum Deikun. The theory proposes that as humanity expands into space, all latent abilities will blossom in order to adapt to the great void and mankind will then be able to understand each other without misconceptions." The theorist in question of course had his legacy bastardized and Newtypes became the new type of soldier rather than a peaceful thing. By the Way in Japanese it's the english New Type so it sounds cool to them but to us it's like... so the new type of human evolution is Newtype... alrighty then. You're actually on to something with black holes being flat. Stephen Hawking theorized that, since things begin to spin as they compress due to gravity, and thus centrifugal force stretches and flattens them, since black holes are the ultimate expressions of gravitational compression, they would more closely resemble a spinning disc. He also put forth that it might be possible to "pass through" a black hole like a wormhole if you approached from the flat, rather than the side.

The closest black hole is Monocerotis and it's 3000 light years away so as it says it would take 3000 years traveling at the speed of light to get there. traveling at our current max recorded speed of 39897 km/s it would take just of 22558 years to get there.
