And in the case that a black kpop stan is actually toxic, why can't they just be called "toxic kpop stans?" You never hear toxic non-black kpop stans being called toxic WHITE kpop stans, toxic ASIAN kpop stans, etc. But when a toxic stan just happens to be black, people start complaining about toxic BLACK kpop stans, as if toxicity is somehow linked to race. It feels like the idea of the "toxic black kpop stan" only became widespread so that non-black kpop stans can use the term to immediately dismiss black people's opinions when their faves are being called out for something but they don’t want to sound overtly racist.

This is very true when you think about it. You really hit the nail on the head here. From the way that we speak, the way we walk, the way we sing, rap, dance, dress, even act to some extent, they are VERY aware of it. If nonblack kpop stans would put away the delusion & bias, they’d clearly see that the kpop industry is hyper aware of black people & black culture. The problem starts with them not respecting the culture & the people they are so heavily influenced by.

About kewn black K-Tubers I always think of Everglow-Up as their poster child. She is African (Zimbabwean to be exact.) I am also African (born and raised in the US) and she is an example of how some African people will trivialize the issues of other black people who live in America simply because they don’t care or don’t relate. A lot of African people operate on this mentality that they are much better off building bridges with nonblack people as opposed to other black people who just happen to be from America. There’s a reason why most of the people commenting their agreement under her video about Giselle are nonblack 💀 She caters to nonblack people who need a token black friend or celebrity to validate their racist and ignorant beliefs.

@@rinarina9424 Exactly! I try to see “both sides” of this issue since I grew up in a largely African community but I am from America and American at heart. A lot of them (specifically immigrants, not individuals who still live on the continent) cite xenophobia that they have faced from AAs as the main reason they act this way. That’s why her behavior is so strange to me. I myself have faced bullying from non-African black children when I was in elementary school, but even then I do not harbor the same vitriol for African-Americans that she does, and she’s an African who lives in Africa. This needed to be said. There are certain youtubers who keep trying to play the contrarian role with a condescending attitude and dedication to defending idols who do wrong actions as if holding them accountable is bad. They always try to bring up the 'dumb twitter fans' argument as an excuse to deviate from the fact that these idols are being called out for a reason. Harrassment is not ok but calling someone out is not wrong either. Those channels also foster a space of racism and then the racists use them to defend their bigoted views. I swear a lot of them just wanna act like they are above the 'dumb twitter fans' but make themselves look even more foolish.
