I’m pretty sure that they’re each other’s only equal as far as anime is concerned. I mean integra has a small army plus alucard (who is arguably another army) and Balalaika also has a small army that COULD fight and win WW III. Plus people are nervous around the two of them, even their names alone.

Plotting Peace The only one I can think of is that Integra doesn’t commit violence as a sport or for fun. It’s only a means to an end to protect the crown and England (primarily from supernatural threats), which is the sole purpose of the Hellsing Organization. Balalaika on the other hand, while she will use diplomacy, she ultimately loves war and possibly gets off on it. She might actually have that in common with the major.

to be fair, this is from the mid aughts (admittedly ahead of its time) but because of the currently high popularity of anime with “cutesy” female characters, stronger women tend to not show up in mainstream recognition and thus be known as well. it’s kind of a self reinforcing trend. straight males consume and set the trend as they’ve inadvertently become the largest demographic of watchers, then feminists acknowledge the lack of recognition and widespread popularity, rather than lack of existence. this isn’t meant to be derogatory, just descriptive.

There was a situation, when finns tried to start a terror war on soviets, they slaughtered hospital, full of wounded and non-combatants. Then soviets made the same thing with finns. slaughtered a hospitall too. And after that there were no more such attempts from finnish side. Russians and Finns are equal at being scary as fuck.
