I'm so excited about this! There are definitely a lot of great African francophone authors I need to read more of, so I will add some to my list. I'm looking forward to your videos about francophone and Brazilian Black literature! Also, I'm glad you took time for yourself, Seji. Please don't pressure yourself too much with deadlines. This is so exciting! When you say the country it's from, is that where the author resides, where they were born? Like a US author who lives in the UK, what would that be classified as?
@TheArtisanGeek
@TheArtisanGeek 3 жыл бұрын
Country as in how the author identifies themselves. If they consider themselves to be a US author living somewhere else in the world, then the country would be US. Of course there are a lot of technicalities, so I guess it's mostly up to the reader :)

I love this idea! How are you dealing with Afro-diasporic authors? So people who are originally from Nigeria, are now citizens in the U.S., and base all of their work in post-apocalyptic Africa (for example)? Or someone whose from Haiti, is now a citizen in the US, spends a good chunk of their time in Haiti, and their books are often placed in Haiti and the U.S. Lastly, is the focus on books that are placed in various countries? Or authors who are from those countries? Or the country the authors are now publishing from? I’m so sorry if this is to many questions, I’m super excited to participate. Thank you!

How would you do this with black sci-if and fantasy? Would it just be a genre point? I have the Inheritance Trilogy by NK Jemisin. Or are we discussing the origin of the author? Would that count as US and genre?
