African Americans are Africans who moved to America and are living their to the Point that they became Citizen. They were Born in America, which makes them American. If you need to make clear that they have African heritage or that they are black, the correct Term would be American of African descent. Or black American. People often think it IS African American but it's Not true. Then would every other American be a German American, Englisch American or European American, but they aren't. Of you are born in America you are American

About 25 years ago, working late in the office one day, the cleaning crew arrived. They were ladies from Poland, and all their conversation was in Polish. Then I was floored when their supervisor came by, an African-American, and he conversed with them in what seemed to me, speed, little apparent repetition, response of the ladies, to be fluent Polish. So I engaged him in conversation. "You speak fluent Polish?" I questioned/observed. He said not really fluent. I said from the military, in intelligence, Monterrey school. Nope, learned from being around the crew for several years. I was stunned, impressed, awe-struck. Some people just have the gift! I regularly traveled to Asia in my job. I can count to 10 in putonghua and thai, plus a few more phrases in each. You have to make allowance for tones. I fracture Spanish, only in the present tense and with pronunciation muy feo. All you folks that really speak two or more languages leave me awe-struck.
