I feel like Black Mesa music would fit with literally every single war scenario. If you're doing a team deathmatch, put on "We've Got Hostile" or "Forget About Freeman." Then there's stuff like a mystery or like entering a cool place. If you find a really cool gun put on Questionable Ethics 2. All in all, this a really great playlist and I'll definitely be listening to it over and over again. Thank you Midoriya and have a great rest of your day.

Black Mesa has one of the hardest bangers of the video game music industry. And that's coming from a Nier, Starcraft, and Frostpunk fan. Joel Nielsen and the team really deserves greater success. The entire collective does. Seriously insane how they got this little attention for an almost two decade project.
@thr333stars Жыл бұрын
Do not let this distract you from the fact that Joel Nielsen used no joke, his wife's farts as a sound effect in the Xen section of the game (It is still good and even with that knowledge it's even better)

I mean, it's not that insane. I remember back in the heyday of Source modding there was a mod a minute coming out, many with grandiose plans about overhauling or re-imagining something made by much larger, much well funded teams. Most people saw these mods whither and die by a whimper. That's ignoring the ones that grew too large and dysfunctional. I'd say the skepticism toward any source mod back in the day was very logical and rational. Once Black Mesa released and wasn't a dumpster fire - and was actually pretty good - it's really easy in hindsight to speak of how inevitable it was. Keep in mind Black Mesa was often brought up in the same breath as Duke Nukem Forever.

I love "On the rail 1" section. It's really fits the situation. Tragedy is around you. your colleagues are dying in droves and soldiers are forced to fight against you and die without even knowing why. But there is nothing you can do but moving forward, hoping you can salvage something in the end.

At first the soundtrack of this game struck me as kinda heavy in a way? Like most of the time there is no music playing and occasionally there's a very full music track playing. I feel like the og half life music was more subtle. I also feel like the music is fairly exotic in a way and it doesn't even sound like half-life 2 music. But I don't think that's a bad thing. It could be seen as a gamble I guess but I think it's a won one for me. I think the music fits the atmosphere, which is fairly unique by itself. I also like that the soundtrack seems mostly if not entirely original. I don't think I would've wanted to hear a remix of the original "we've got hostiles" track I've heard a million times before in og half-life.
