The ending guitar melody is a reprise of the guitar from the first track of the album, Imperium. It's supposed to symbolize the beginning of a new empire raising from the ashes of the old since Respite on the Spitalfields is the last track on the album. Also, funny thing, Call Me Little Sunshine wasn't supposed to be the lead single for the album. Tobias Forge wanted the lead single to be Kaisarion or Spillways, but the label insisted on CMLS so yeah...

One of the best finishes, so melodic and powerful particularly the ending.

I can see where you are coming from in regards to the bridge before the guitar outro, however I personally think it makes sense thematically to be this way. Very rarely do empires go out in a final blaze of glory, the kind that would warrant a climactic, heavy sound. More often their decline is much more gradual and sad, leaving only the echoes of its past greatness represented by the reprisal of the riff that begins the album.

From the same album I highly recommend Kaisarion, very catchy yet also proggy at times!

I think the reason it’s not as heavy or whatever is because it’s the end song. Also, the end of respite on the spitalfeilds is the song Imperium which is the first song on the album impera . I think it works really well. It signifies the end of the album and it’s a nice way to slowly end it . Kind of like the ending to a battle.

The lyrics is about Jack The Ripper. He committed his crimes in the Spitalfields in London. On guitar you hear Fredrik Åkesson from Opeth. When you listened to this song a couple of times you will love it.

@@galayat-reacts3643 Cool. If you wanna hear Fredrik go riff crazy listen to Watcher in the sky from the same album. (Impera). Fredrik plays on the whole album.

@@galayat-reacts3643 I believe most of the solos were partly written by and directed by Tobias, I remember Frederik saying in an interview that Tobias was VERY specific with what licks and melodies he wanted

@@Lazarus_Cardinalis Tobias normally played the guitar and bass himself on every song, and wrote all of the parts for the other instruments he wasn't as capable with. He hired Fred to do it for Impera because he's out of practice from all the time he spends running Ghost 24/7 and couldn't play what he was writing effectively.

You're wrong... it was perfect. If something is perfect, it's best to leave it tf alone. This is one of those things.

This song isnt about the going out of an empire. This is about the murders that the police thought were also dote by Jack the Ripper.
