I LOVE how the ending guitar lick is the same as the first track of the album (Imperium). Just makes me hyped to listen to everything all over again!

I like how it symbolizes an empire being built from ashes of a prior empire, and returning to ashes just to build the next one. Brings out the meaning of "I'll be the shadow, you'll be the light" The line "we will go softly into the night" references the poem "do not go Gently into that good night." The poem tells someone to fight against the end at all costs, but the song reads that line as their failure, when an empire is willing to tear itself apart. The amount of references in this album are amazing

This is probably my favorite song on the album, you can clearly hear 80's heavy metal/hard rock influence. It has a bit of Infinite Dreams by Iron Maiden and Still of the Night by Whitesnake.

I heard more No Prayer for the Dying in this song than Infinite Dreams, but there's definitely Maiden influence on this album as a whole. There's a lot of obvious influence on this album, to the point where each song almost feels like a tribute to a different band. Watcher in the Sky for example is VERY Ozzy/Randy Rhoads sounding in the riffs, and very Avenged Sevenfold sounding during the solo.

I absolutely love the lyrics "That the king that we hailed, was the Wizard of Oz". On the surface, slightly goofy. To me it's a clear representation of the facade that people in power display to gain power. Beautiful. Nice review man.

This song goes so well with life eternal. The whole ‚forever‘ theme of life eternal and the answer to that ‚nothing ever lasts forever‘

This is a song about Jack the Ripper and the murders he perpetrated in the district of Spitalfields (and Whitechapel, of course).

I love this song. Try listening to the lyrics instead of talking over them. It's about Jack the Ripper and several murders that werent in White Chapel area but just a few streets away. They wondered if those also were Jack's killings.

Just waiting for people to mash this one up with Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria. Also, I high-key think Bite of Passage and Respite on the Spitalfields are both meant for an unannounced Nightmare on Elm Street film with all the allusions to the killer, dreams, the blood that was shed being real, all of it.

I saw someone else say that too, I really think the song was telling the story of an empire on its last legs, wrapping up the theme. But Idk, maybe it has more than one meaning

The whole album tells the story of how papa 1 2 and 3 were betrayed and killed and respite is them saying they are coming back. The jack the ripper thing is no go.
@logandumont

@@dock3680 apparently you haven’t seen the inner album artwork with the London-esque streets with a cloaked man walking down the road…..I also remember reading an interview somewhere of Tobias talking about this song discussing themes of Jack the Ripper, as well as the fall of an empire. No where in the lyrics do I hear anything reference multiple papas coming back lol
