efnarios parent your child, teach your child right and wrong then simply just turning that censor off like a robot. Basically protect your kid but don’t go overboard like this mother did. That mother was beyond the definition of a helicopter parent. She wanted to keep her daughter safe but in the end she lost her because of her own paranoia.
@ParadiseIslandDun6 жыл бұрын
I did not blame the mom the first time she turned it on after her daughter did not come home, but after that she needed to have a sit down talk with her daughter. She never talked to her about what problems she might be facing or how to address certain situations. She just assumed since she was brought up on Arkangel her life would be peachy. Now look. Your face is broken and you have no daughter.

Its bigger than that. The reason why she did not talk to her daughter, was because she probably be forced to admit that she still has the system activated. The reason why the mother installed the implant, and the reason why she kept the device, and the reason why she did not talk to her daughter are all the same: she did not want to lose control of the situation. You can't separate these things because they all come from the same paranoia. The mother never should have kept that device and she never should have installed the implant.

@@chunkyMunky329 Um then just come clean and say i was forced to turn it on because you lied to me and i was worried about you. Once everyone has calmed the f down then we can begin the healing process with the lectures on teen pregnancy, negotiations regarding the implant, punishment for lying, new curfew rules, and so on and so forth. Be an actual Parent. What matters most is that they talk about it. When you've reached a point where you would rather drug your child than have a conversation with them that should tell you how dire the situation is and a drastic change is needed. Think of how different the world would be if politicians didn't talk to each other. Debates will always be better than radio silence. keep the dialogue going.

I got lost as a child in a mall (Indian parents seriously need to look to see whether their kids are following them)... My father always told me that if I ever got lost then I should stay where I am and not wander about coz he would always retrace his steps and find me. So I just went to the last shop we went to and waited for him. The shopkeepers gave me sweets and were very nice to this lost 6 year old girl but honestly I wasn't even scared coz I was just so sure that he would find me... One simple conversation saved me from freaking out n getting lost... That is how easy it can be, no need for tabs n crap...

She deserves to have her daughter disapprove of her sex life and spy on her and pop up everytime shes trying to get laid. Thrn maybr she will see what it feels like. If she was a good mom she woulds drove over there while that boy was about to cum and barge in.... "hey i thought u were at so and so's house!!!".... that would get the party started a lot sooner. Arkangel is considerably early in the Black Mirror timeline, which is why the parental cam program was still in beta mode. The National anthem, The Waldo moment, Shut up and Dance and Playtest are theorized to be the episodes earlier in the timeline because the tech used is still in beta mode or in the case of The national anthem and shut up and dance, there’s no specific tech being used.

I'm quite interested to see some of your takes on the later episodes this season. Everyone hated Metalhead, but I liked it -- and everyone seemed to love Hang The DJ, which I was sorta "meh" about. I think Crocodile for me was the true standout episode of the season, but I know that a lot of people dislike that one, too. I guess that's what makes this show so good. To each his or her own. In fairness, though, I think that this season, as a whole, was a bit of a letdown. There wasn't that one episode where I was like WOW, or left speechless by, like White Bear, or The Entire History Of You, or even White Christmas.

see and that's the weird thing is that I wasn't blown away at all by the entire history of you or white Christmas, I thought be right back and shut up an dance were like the best I've ever seen. I think that's the cool thing about the show is that each episode is so different that it's going to hit people differently depending on what freaks them out or what reminds them of something in their own life
@MrDuneedon6 жыл бұрын
In fairness, Be Right Back and Shut Up and Dance are two of my favorites, and right up there. I completely overlooked those. Yeah -- those are definitely "WOW" episodes for me, as well. And, I'd say easily that either of those two episodes, if they had been released this season, would immediately be the best episode of this season.

A lot of people have been saved from potential kidnapping because of technology.

No they were pissed the mom didn't give the daughter a choice the same way they would get pissed if a man tried to deny a woman her choice. Lolll the man does not get a choice in whether the woman stays pregnant or not, that only involves her body. His involvement was having sex and he had a choice in that, that's the only choice he gets in making the kid.

That mindset would make for terrible parents. LOL No offense! I mean to excuse it all as "Ohhh, it's just teenagers! Doing hardcore drugs like cocaine? Pshhh, teens!" "Teens lying and going off to have unprotected sex? Pfffft. Teens!" I mean.. yeah, teens experiment with drugs and sex, but you can tell them and warn them about these things. Tell them the dangers of drugs. Tell them the consequence of unprotected sex, etc. Honesty is important and raising a child to be honest and open with their parent is something not all parents do. But again to shrug all that shit off as "teenager things" is not a good mindset. Well, they're not parents yet so of course they think like that. Some teens do drugs or unprotected sex, sure. That's widespread, but that's more due to how they're raised and what they're taught or warned about things. Parents being strict and hard to talk to is the previous generation. Millennials or Generation Y parents should not be like that with their children. Personally, for me, I was open with my parents. I've told them I've wanted to try marijuana. I was never into other drugs because I know they're bad and addictive. While I never told my parents about sex, they were well aware I bought condoms with their damn money. LOL. And they trusted me. I never had to lie about where I was going or who I was going with. If I had a girlfriend and I told them I was going out with my girlfriend, I'm sure they figured I'd probably be having sex with said girlfriend. Haha. Anyway, rant over.

It's always funny listening to non-parents talk about how they'd parent. I remember back when my daughter was 5 or 6,there was an RFID chipping process that was offered for kids. I was tempted, but just parented. If it had been actual GPS, I probably would have done it. I had GPS tracking software on her phone (before she kept disabling it.) If Arkangel was available, I would have lowjacked my kid and gotten the medical readout, but not the POV or reality blurring options. I wouldn't want to see or directly control what my daughter did. I'd have to trust my parenting on that. But I would want to know where she was or her medical condition. And I wouldn't tell her about it until she found out. I'd keep her thinking Dad was all-knowing (or had spies.) If she did find out, I don't think it would be as much of a violation as being able to see and hear what she was doing. I'd expect there would have to be something where the child can have it removed after turning 18. They should be able to cease being monitored as an adult. Otherwise, could you imagine the overprotective, controlling parent calling you about going to a bar after work or a spouse finding the forgotten monitoring tablet in your parent's attic one day and keeping tabs on you?

Season 4 is so dark.. truly lives up to the title of the show. Not recommended watching 2 and then episode 3 back to back

Do you know what a black mirror is? All these episodes have a running theme. The tech is ever so slightly real and plausible to see in our lifetime. But while the tech seems good at first if you stop and think about it then that tech becomes nightmare fuel. So turn off your phone, don't become excited about new tech. And, once you have turned your phone off, look at the screen.... There is your black mirror.

NoHo Shaz That just came to me after thinking of the ending of the episode and how they want us to think "oh trucks drives can be dangerous" when in truth she is not emotionally stable because of how shelter she was as a child and she doesn't know how to handle anger, she beat her mom every time she got angry as a child and a teen.

You lost me at the bizzare vaccination statement/comparison tbh.
@chunkyMunky3296 жыл бұрын
I think it's actually a very good comparison. Vaccination and this chip both are used for similar purposes: to protect your kids from dangers. Therefore, it is very plausible that if a lot of parents decided to put chips in their kids, they might end up socially ostracizing any parents who don't adopt it. The ignorance of our society has no limits. I personally have an illness that prevents me from drinking much alcohol or I might one day get cancer. And I had to stop socializing with my "friends" because people would give me dirty looks or try to peer pressure me into drinking with them, even after I told them why I wasn't drinking. People will shame and bully others for the dumbest reasons.
@sassafrasfruit6 жыл бұрын
Not vaccinating your kids not only endangers your kids life, but other children they come in to contact with. The reason it's a bizarre comparison is because not vaccinating your kids is a conscious choice (unless of course you don't have that option, as some people don't have vaccinations available to them/or are unable to). Those kids? The ones who can't get vaccinated? THOSE are the kids who are most in danger from the parents that CAN have their kids vaccinated (against potentially deadly diseases) but decide not to. It's just, not really relevant to the helicopter parent/invasion of privacy/surveillance chip/ect theme. It's two very separate subjects.

Beth Y But it is still one of very many examples of issues where society shames people for not agreeing or conforming. So while it's not a perfect comparison, it is still a comparison. And that's all Chris was trying to do. It's not easy to make perfect comparisons off the top of your head without any time to plan.

I'm not criticizing him personally here, I understand where he was coming from. Also I guess you're right, a wrong or unfair comparison is still technically a comparison.

Technically I think there are 7 Archangels, not including the 8th guy without whom the story would be kinda boring. Michael, Uriel, Azrael (?), Gabriel, and three that aren't memorable. Pretty sure only Michael, Gabriel, and Uriel get actual shoutouts via the common format.

My Nanna was babysitting us once and we were playing outside on the green (grass) and we decided to go to my friends house across the street for whatever reason. I go back home like an hour or two later and the police were there as my Nan obviously came out to check on us at some point and we were just gone so called the police.

I was honestly hoping they'd just sorta skip this episode ('Crocodile'). I absolutely agree, however, that it is also the most likely to happen and soonish. There are people that have these chips in foreign countries (us citz working in) for cc purchases and to protect against kidnapling NO SPOILERS It was my least favorite of the season, though it will probably work better in React format than 'Metalhead.'
