Thank you 🙏 for reminding me of my childhood (I’m 41) watching “Monkey Magic” every week on TV…..fantastic adaptation of Journey to the West. Why don’t you try breaking down mythology of Monkey Magic (After you can extract Black Myth fully) . I think great move & anything Black Myth related while hype is huge
@loC2ol4 ай бұрын
@@AlmidarMadowe Witcher 3 is chock full of incredible Polish and Eastern European mythology mixed with many classic Germanic Brothers Grim fairy tales. Anything Lord of the Rings related I would count as British or classic western fantasy at this point. Tolkien has done so much heavy lifting for Western Fantasy over the past 100 years. AC Odyssey (and OG God of War series) and Origins for Greek and Egyptian respectively. New God of War series for Nordic Ghost of Tsushima and Rise of the Ronin for Japanese (they are set in two different but both awesome periods of Japanese history)

For my fellow Westerners/English speakers - If you're interested in reading "Journey to the West" but you don't want to read a "War and Peace" length book I highly recommend "The Monkey and the Monk" which is an abridged translation by Anthony C. Yu who translated what is widely regarded as the best English translation of the original "Journey to the West." I just finished it a few days before the game came out and I can say it is a really fun read. Those old Chinese monks could really whip up a good tale and still holds up today like the Lord of the Rings. The language and flow is a bit more "Silmarillion" though, but if Tolkien had a really dirty and boyish sense of humor. I highly recommend reading it, especially if you enjoyed the game. You'll immediately probably want to replay it so you can pick up on all the many references in the game. Nice video btw.

Thanks for sharing a thorough explanation of Wukong & Journey To The West. :) I’ve always had a love for Chinese Mythology and Culture, I was lucky enough to visit China not long ago with my partner who is Chinese, I visited my partners hometown in Hubei and It was incredible experience to me, Such a deep history and beautiful country. Black Myth is a masterful work of art that truly captures the mystical beauty of China and its Mythology in a way that nothing else has really done. All that said, my only wish is it wasn’t so damn hard! >~< haha

@emotionalintelligence7764 ай бұрын
@@bingtalksofficial Nope, the game is fine. People need to git gud, lol, its not Elden ring difficult so Wukong is already far more forgiving upfront. But it is meant to teach you the game and decide a playstyle that isnt just about button smashing. I have 600 mods on my Cyberpunk game, with Wukong it doesnt need anything that isnt already there, its as close to a masterpiece as we honestly deserve.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain the narrative behind such an amazing game. It's good to have perspective as one enters into a story such as this. Otherwise it could be either confusing or you end up missing the greater message of the story. I just started playing Black Myth: Wukong last night and will say it is all the things you mentioned. I will also say the various bosses I've encountered so far are challenging. Again, I'm only at the very beginning, but the game tests your skill and resolve from the start. I've sure there are others who have found it to easy and that's fantastic! I think for the average player, I would say, "Buckle up! It's gonna be a challenging and crazy ride!"

I already saw a video from a western view on journey to the west and breaking down what we need to know on wukong, and it was good. But I saw Chinese comments praising it for being as good as a westerners interpretation can get cuz some points got overly simplified or misinterpreted and they appreciated the jokes made but overall did a good job explaining wukong, not the story. So i watched this video and will watch others I think out of respect because it’s super interesting and every Chinese commenter has been super kind and respectful and helpful so far.
