That’s because they actually put the time in. Game designers don’t realize the days of games being made in 1-2 years are over. These games require 5-7 years to truly make the quality of a staple now. It’s the blessing and a curse that comes with the raise in consciousness/technology. We had more games and every game was of good quality back then. Now we have to wait half a decade to play an actually good major title that’s developed well enough.

@@keithdick3720 it’s pretty complex but in short WuKong is immortal and has great strength. (Both have lore in which he acquired them) Nothing could defeat him until he was out smarted by Buddha. Then locked away under a mountain for like 500 years in which he was freed and in depth to his savior traveled and guarded him on his voyage across the dangerous lands. Best way to describe it in short.

the ripple effect thing when you hit and stuff, I feel like that is very very cool, and I've always loved it when they implemented into games, but in the newer games on UE5, I feel like they're using it too much, there's no need to use that effect when someone is simply swinging their sword. It gets overdone a bit I think they should tone it down a bit, and only use it with parries or heavy elemental attacks

The truth is that I have not seen games that use that effect and less in the way this one uses it, I personally love it and it looks very good, it shows that the attacks of these beings are extremely strong, inhuman. Funny thing about this is I have only started to actually truly learn about Sun Wukong since this game was announced but it took time until I truly understood who he was. So I have heard of Sun Wukong but only in the title of "The Tales of the Monkey King", of which I didnt know who it was actually based off of. I had only heard of the tales because I learned DragonBall is loosely adapted from that myth. When this game was announced was when I officially heard his name properly for the first time, but still wasnt seriously interested (which is weird for me because I am actually a fan of ancient mythologies). Then, Death Battle put him in a match with Hercules of which I was sure Hercules would win because I still believed Sun Wukong to be a nobody only for Herc to get seriously bodied. I finally began to actually pay attention to his name when those amazing "vs shorts" here on KZbin started popping up and I couldnt help but notice anytime this "Sun Wukong" guy got in a "shorts vs" his fights were always somehow one sided. So I FINALLY actually started to research who this guy is and why on Earth do people hold him in such a high regard and good golly what I found was nothing short of jaw dropping. To sum it up, this man is basically the Chinese Doomslayer except with immortality times like 7. Now, I am a fan of the great Sun Wukong and I can finally say I am truly looking forward to this game and I will continue to research this mythology.

This game otherwise looks totally awesome (I especially like the part where he transformed into a wolf-man, and kicked the giant wolf creature's ass with a flaming glaive like (guan dao?) weapon, and the revelation of that lightning weapon at the end of the video has me all giddy, since I love lightning powers and weapons, but action games these days keep refusing to let me have any (looking at you God of War Ragnarok!)), but I notice a distinct lack of the ability to simply block (not talking about fancy countering) regular enemy melee attacks, instead of having to dodge everything...that's going to annoy me...And I mean, this is basically Sun Wukong we're playing as here...he should be more than capable of blocking basic attacks with his staff.

Looks awesome. Another Dark Souls like game with an amazing Design. Masterpiece in gamedesign. This in VR and we gamers are lost.

I'm hoping that the difficulty of the enemies are like DS but I extremely doubt it's gonna have checkpoints that respawn enemies and a in depth and detailed leveling system with exp from defeated enemies that y need to grind out to get high levels. And definitely not gonna have the ability to collect every weapon and armor piece dropped by enemies among death.... I SUPER hope that the enemies and combat and damage scales to player n enemies are heavily DS related with prolly a skill tree u can upgrade upon defeating area bosses or Main bosses with hidden colle tables that do the same.. just by a glance it is screaming GOW vibes but I hope they really do sprinkle on the difficulty of even thr smallest enemies like DS... this is how God of war should feel..

@@nicklewis23 I hope it's nothing like dark souls. I hope it's more like actually fun Action Adventure games like hades, astral chain, or nier. Complex mechanics in games, with shit items where the gameplay dwindles down to blocking and spamming one skill over and over isn't my type of a fun time. If it's anything like souls I hope they take the monster hunter approach so I can use more than one animation to fight something. And items aren't just raise #insertstats# for 30seconds.

I would expect multiple improvements here: 1) sky scenes. Dunno why one of the most oustanding SonWuKong skills here is missing. He can fly up and fight against sky gods. However, I only see him running on the ground fighting some irrelevant monsters. Spider ladies maybe more relevant here based on the story. 2) 1-1 combat with Erlang Shen. Not the final boss but meeting him along the journey would be a great experience.

For people who are interested in the game you can read through Journey to the West. The monsters WuKong fought in this game is almost entirely adapted from the novel

Below are the monsters i spotted as someone who's kinda familiar with the novel 1) The big bear at 8:40 resembles the 黑风怪 in the novel. From the game it has wolf and snake monsters as sentries and in the novel, the monsters disguises as monks and are allies of the bear monster. They actually practise buddhism until they were tempted to steal the Buddha's brocade cassock. 2) The spider sisters at 22:20. Novel did not mention anything about wanting to marry the monks but game developers mightve incorporated the story of the Kingdom of Women. One of the ladies mentioned they have an Uncle, which could be the centipede monster as mentioned in the novel as well. 3) The White dragon 5:00. Later on he will be one of the members of the pilgrimage to the west. 4) The scorpion demoness at 20:25. She abducted Tang Sanzang and tried to make him marry her. 5) The eagle monster at 20:35. Named The Golden Winged Great Roc, one of the few monsters that wukong struggled against nearer to the end of their journey. The allies of the eagle that may appear in the game as mentioned in the novel are the Azure Lion Demon and the Yellow Toothed Elephant Demon 6) The 4 Heavenly Kings at 20:46. The few deities that Wukong fought in the beginning of the novel 7) Wukong against the army of heaven at 20:51. Wukong was pissed that the Jade Emperor made him a stable boy. 8) Bull Demon King at 29:50. The pilgrimage had to get pass this volcano and the demon's wife has this mythical iron fan that would be able to put out the fires around the mountain.
