Thats by design. The devs got tired of everyone complaining about Dead Silence so they pretty much gave it to everyone while still keeping + adding to the "movement demon" mechanics. It's getting aggravating because CoD used to be a healthy balance of both camping and rushing but between the studios and the MW and BO titles we either get "FAST FAST FAST" or "Sentinal" gameplay.

I don't really get this. They figured this crap out in like CoD 4 in 2007. It was fine to me then. I could tell a guy was running to me, and even understood if they were above or below once I learned the maps. I'd take 2007 audio over this modern spatial junk.

@@kingcaesar3693 Both just missing the point though, using old cods for nostalgia reasons. Back then less people wore headsets and the quality of the sound has changed. A lot of audio engineers used NS-10 because of consistency. If most of the studios had them then it was best you had them so the audio engineers were listening to something they knew. You can mix on a cheapo used pair of 20 year old speakers if you fully understand their strengths and weaknesses and get used to how they sound. It's not about sounding good or bad it's about consistency and mass availability. Same reason a lot of studios use the Sony MDR-7506, mass availability and consistency.

However, I am on team "don't punish players for moving around." The worst case is having to crank the volume to hear footsteps and damaging your hearing with all the unbalanced explosions and FX. What about balancing it so gunfire is easy to locate from a distance and footsteps have a really short audible range but they are crystal clear from within that short range? I prefer to play at low volumes and could still hear footsteps perfectly in the recent games. Just do that but only within 5 meters.
