They dont make you do anything and all of the stuff in the premium track is completely optional, you dont need ANYTHING from the premium track of the squid game collab, i would be more upset if they put the cleaver and both skins in the premium pass, but they didnt, because you are not required to buy the premium track to unlock the important content. You NEVER have been forced to do that in this style of microtransaction. It is PURELY because you think it looks good and want to use it. If you cannot get that through all your thick as fuck skulls, than stop playing.

I think it's less about the cost/content and more about the timing. Most people recognize that cosmetic teams and normal dev teams have separate schedules, but when the game has glaring issues people want addressed, it feels like a slap in the face to the consumer. Like, "Hey guys, we know there's a bunch of issues with the game right now, so here's an update that doesn't fix those issues and adds a new exclusive event battle pass." To me, cosmetics aren't the end of the world because you don't have to buy them, but holy shit they need to read the room. At minimum, they need to communicate with their players

Honestly i have to commend the creativity when they make something that the devs enjoy. I havent played the Pentathalon? Pantogramothon? Pathalon? mode but the idea behind it looks really cool and fun. As for the battlepass inception i dont see why as a vault edition owner cant get either extra perks or free stuff when these events drop. I intend to get the blackcells as they drop but thats all ill buy. What about a blackcell squid game character. Something fun that fits within the season. Just a thought

I personally LOVE this update. I am prestiege master level 200 with nebula and dark matter, so having a lil extra grind is fun. I love squid games too so that is an added bonus. For me, while the event does seem alright, with the zombies mode looking to be the most fun (even if the round 10 cap is dumb), it's honestly baffeling that amid the multiple issues the game is going through, like hackers getting more and more prevelant, game breaking things happening, and many more things, surrounding the game like the voice actors getting replacer, they're just trying to focus more on a collab than the stability if their own game

EA has a similar system within apex legends, where an event would drop but you have to pay to open packs and they give you a couple packs for free when you get a certain amount of xp. But then again apex is free and cod is 70-100$

The event pass, feel conflicted. I don't hate it. The premium section probably just would have been its own 2400 point bundle if they weren't feeling experimental. For that, I don't dislike. But it does feel concerning the fact they feel the need to continue to get experimental with monetization, whether or not it seems like better value. And the free side kinda pales in comparison, aside from the two character skins are alright and free cleaver of course. The game modes themselves, haven't played the multiplayer ones, but I like the idea of Pentathalon. Dead Light Green Light, cool concept, but sucks. Honestly wouldn't even mind the forced exfil if it were at least round 20 or higher. One thing I liked of playing public matches in Cold War, the option to play a strictly 20 round match. Felt like a nice solid length. 10 is so short, solo or with others.
