I decided to preorder the white one after I noticed how much the black version was reflecting because of the black bezels. This will be my first handheld since GBA so I'm pretty damn hyped. It's weird that the japanese version doesn't come with charger but EU/NA does. Apparenlty they discontinued New 3DS worldwide and not just in Japan.

The white one for sure. The black one was already getting visibly dirty from skin oils, and the glossy black bezel looks nice when the screen is off, but when it's on I don't want a glossy black bezel reflecting my face or other things and distracting me. You can see in the video that with the white one, there's some reflection on the screen itself (when will the tech industry learn that glossy screens are bad?), but it drops off once the bezel starts.

I carry the thing in a bag WITH my Switch, so dropping a few grams isn't really enticing to me. Black makes everything look slimmer. Like when people have a thicker frame wear black clothes to give the illusion of looking slimmer. I got the New 2DS XL today: LOVE IT! Two biggest issues: Flimsy screen and system transfer time. The screen is often wobbly, but it is something that can easily get used to within hours. The transfer from my old 3DS to the new system has taken HOURS. I only have 2 digital downloads on that old 3DS: Super Mario Maker and Pokémon Sun. I also screwed up and picked the wrong option of transferring originally, so that wasted 3 hours. Uggg. Honestly just waiting to have the system transfer all done and then I’ll have some good fun with the system. I’ll keep everyone posted.

Hi NihongoGamer! I've been watching your videos for a few years now. Excellent content! I was considering getting the New 2DS XL over the New 3DS XL. However, I've noticed several shortcomings that indicate the 2DS XL is a budget model besides the lack of 3D. The battery seems to be the smaller 1300mAh battery from the original 3DS and 2DS. None so far seem to have IPS screens. The auto-brightness feature is gone. The metal shielding is absent, so the light from the top screen bleeds through the outer plastic shell. If you could investigate or confirm these in your follow-up video, that would be superb. Thanks!

Ended up buying the Lime Green + Black New 2DS LL (Which I have plans on switching to the US region, because I've generally found retro Japanese game prices to be cheaper on the second hand market for some reason) recently because the prices on 3DS systems are going to increase exponentially once online services completely shut down, and because I've been wanting to dig into the DS catalogue that I missed out on when I was growing up. I did have a Red+Black 2DS ages ago (long after a lot of people I knew in school had DS systems, I had a GBA SP), but I only got Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal for it at the time (I regret not buying Smash Bros or Project Mirai instead, considering I beat the game in three hours), and outside of that, I mostly used it for online shopping (Mainly buying PC parts), as an MP3 player, Facebook (before I quit), and KZbin. Between that, planning on getting a PSP (Mainly for game backup reasons), a Steam Deck (Which I have the money saved for, still waiting on an email invitation), and a Nintendo Switch (Which I mostly use for dungeon crawlers nowadays, because I haven't gotten around to getting more games for it), I think I'm set on handhelds.

It's the golden age for the 3ds line because since the new 2ds has a fast processor it can do ntr streaming which means you can capture gameplay wirelessly through the internet This also requires Cfw with Boot9strap so you can do this also while that happens you can play any region game plus you can dump your games to the system instead of having to swap carts between all 3 Nihongo join the Golden age and get 3dsHacks a go

I mean, the timing of this 2Ds LL was horrible, if they released this last year it would be perfect, but launching AFTER the Switch just seems... wrong. And since Switch has been confirmed that is getting Monster Hunter XX, Pokemon and Fire Emblem which are basically the only three reasons people get Nintendo's portable console...And I know that we don't even know anything about Pokemon and FE...but it HAS been confirmed, and I'm sure that a Pokemon Switch will definitely be superior than the Ultra versions, in summary...I'm saying this console could be affordable if it was launched last year, but the difference is that the 3DS doesn't have a strong titles for the future and releasing this just seems like Nintendo is saying "Well, since we are going to kill this platform, now you can get a much cheaper and superior version" I don't know, it just looks stupid to me.

Marco Pat: The increase in sales of the 3DS in 2016 probably caught them by surprise ... that is what pushed the project ahead. Couldn't have got it out before the Switch in that case, and would have been crazy to trample the Switch release, so that means a mid-summer release is the first open slot.

I think since dsi its region locked but easy to solve install homebrew and run region launcher: problem solved :D
