I have many entrepreneur friends who are not POC and have easily started businesses with confidence . As a young black woman, I have seen very little POC representation, especially for black people. For her to even come out with a product for something as taboo as vaginal health, she has done an amazing job. There should've been zero issue about her mentioning trying to sort of pave the way and inspire black women to create something new. Women of color, especially black women, have spent a majority of our lives watching commercials that promoted white women. We have watched TV, not seeing anyone who even slightly resembled us. We have been told that we aren't beautiful because we have brown skin. I remember being younger and thinking when I got older, I would become white because that is what is beautiful. It is ridiculous that as a child, I felt ugly because I wasn't white. Black women get the slightest bit of support and all of sudden, it is an issue. Just let us have some representation for once, you have had yours. And to all the women of color who feel as if they aren't beautiful or aren't deserving of certain things because you are not white, remember that your melanated skin is beautiful. Do not forget your worth. You are strong, gorgeous, and deserving.

What don't people get about creating equality through opportunity? It's not a simple "okay everyone is equal now" solution, you have to first bring those groups who have been underrepresented, discriminated against, and who have not had the socio-economic opportunities to the level of those who have had the privilege to succeed. This is done through creating opportunities through scholarships, bursaries, training and employment incentives etc. This will take a number of years before it actually is an even playing field. Creating opportunities for those who are in marginalized groups DOES NOT take away opportunities for those in in the already existing privileged groups.
