It’s funny how colonization works. POC are pitted against each other, and we get distracted fighting among ourselves instead of uniting against a common enemy. 😔

Divide and rule. That's the colonisers motto. Our people were also like this before our independence from the British. Hence why it took so many years for us to break free.

That's what the movie was ultimately trying to say, I think. You can't be that minority that's trying to play nice with the majority because they're still going to take what they want from you and make you a bad guy. After that awful status quo post-credits scene in the first film, I was SUPER happy to see them walk that back in Wakanda Forever!

Seriously great antagonist! During the last battle, I couldn't even get into it because I was like "Stop killing each other, you need each other!" Just like Killmonger, he had a totally fair point, but a terrible solution. The whole movie shows what unprocessed grief does to people and how they view the world. Incredible story.

What I love about the ending, with Toussaint and the point of him being raised in Haiti, is the fact that Toussaint is actually the name of our freedom fighters of Haiti which soon became the first successful slave revolt EVER. So, Toussaint being raised in Haiti means he gets to understand what his name means and the weight it carries (which is great foreshadowing).
@igweugo
@igweugo 2 ай бұрын
Names are amazing things, but the additional benefit for Toussaint/T'Challa (assuming he gets a formal introduction at home before it's too late) is that he will live and grow up, fully emersed in the world. Starting in Haiti with his mother Nakia, but then to wherever his curiosity/intellect will take him; throughout the African and Afro-Latino Diaspora, and further as he learns.

And yes, it is Black History Month, but we only celebrate American Blacks and their creations and advancements to our history. I sobbed like a CHILD through the first 20mins, (death really is so Final, and for now I've ionly had to experience that hurt once before now) 3. The winged feet man is FINE AS HELLL!!!!! (Sheri, if you don't get him my black ass will!) 4. I LOOOOOOVE THE WHITE FUNERAL!!!!! IT'S MY FAVOURITE SCENE!!!!!!!!! THE FASHION! THE OUTFITS!!!!! I C O N I C. (African culture is so fucking beautiful) 5. Angela Basset is QUUEEEEEEEENNNNN!!!! BIH!!!!!!! 6. The pale people are extra wicked in this one!!!!! 7. I was still crying over Chadwick in the mammywater scene! 8. Between the corruption and the pale people, Africa never had a chance, girl. 9. "You bald headed demon" took me and my friend OUT. Next time I get a fresh-cut, I know she's going to call me a bald headed demon. 10. Sheri in that tracksuit is my lesbian awakening. Periodt

I'm so glad I waited to watch this while I'm in the comfort of my home because I cried a good 1/4 of the movie. Tears at the beginning. Tears in the middle. Tears right before the end. Tears at the end…tears everywhere. I'm not an emotional person but dammit, this is so good and it hits so hard. Everyone's acting was superb. As a fan of the MCU they did really well with expanding the story, but honestly, the first movie and this one together perfect movies.

I'm from Australia and didn't know who Toussaint L'Ouverture was until I saw this movie and looked the reference up. Now that I've learned a bit about him (gotta get onto the book 'Black Jacobins' my parents lent me) and a bit about Haiti, here's what I'm thinking: A movie or miniseries - mainstream release - about Toussaint L'Ouverture A movie or miniseries - mainstream release - about Jean-Jacques Dessalines A movie or miniseries - mainstream release - about Henry Christophe And then afterwards a tv series covering the entire history of Haiti, since as someone else on KZbin commented, the history of Haiti puts Game of Thrones to shame.
