I hate the argument that racism is 'prejudice PLUS power'. If you look down on anyone for their race, no matter the situation, it's racism. That being said systemic racism is through prejudice and power. And that does have an effect but anyone, no matter who they are or the color of their skin, can say and do racist things and essentially, be racist. That argument is just a way to excuse being a racist jerk and get away with it.

I'm Asian. And when I was studying the UK international schools, there was one day where there is a school sponser spokeman, talking about how rhino horns are being poached ilegally, including by chinese people. And during then, on my dinner table, the white and black students stared at me with stern passive agressive eyes. I felt super uncomfortable, but I was more suprised than uncomfortable. These are the same black students that say that hate racist people, and will argue and defend against racism, including students who said the N word. There's like, a kazillion chinese people, and my family are from hong kong so me and my family have nothing to do with rhino horn poaching. I don't carry grudge, and they were around 15 years old at that time. But I'm sharing this story to let people know that anyone can be racist, unintentionally or intentionally.

@@amycurtis535 That's true. I think the media and education only teaches white people to not be racist towards black people, especially the prohibit use of the n word. But when I scroll through instagram memes, i see comments flooding with the word 'ching chong'. And sometimes people make racist chinese noises to make fun of our language when i was explaining in chinese to someone. Why don't i see more anti asian racism videos in media? I think its because America really hates China due to being economic rivals. Though to be fair, there are quite a lot of local china people that are racist towards american people as well

I’m a white person and had two friends who believed this 100000%. I believed it at the time cause I loved them both dearly, but they treated me like an other; an it. Everything I did that annoyed them in any way was me being racist, and they held me accountable for being bullied by other white people in highschool. They later stopped being friends with me cause I “didn’t compliment them ENOUGH and said Drake is overrated at this point” and they said that was racist. It took me 2 years to stop beating myself up and seeing myself as less than human for being white. And tbh I still struggle with my self esteem cause I still hear their voices telling me I’m taking up space other people deserve

Alternative perspective, and not trying to justify the phrase or anyone's bad actions at all, but just because black people collectively don't have as much power in society doesn't mean they didn't have power in that situation. They had a numbers advantage and put their hate on someone who did nothing to them. So even by their own definition it was racism.
@CTomCooper

It can be described as a secular doctrine within academia and political circles: “Speaking up for minorities”-with minorities being non-whites to sow division and discord across a wider population-is just a blanket statement that is also meant to hide how non-white demographics have the same clashes towards one another. The destruction of social cohesion by a handful of people in circles of influence and power is deliberate and not accidental, and it’s why academic faculty and administrators in business and government continue to push their rhetoric to preserve their positions of power. Racism as it’s redefined here in this cartoon is okay when they do it. It’s not a coincidence to see younger generations fall into that brainwashing, because it’s to train up younger people into preserving the dynamic that members of this ideological cult have established for themselves. Those kids who were bullies were being pat on the head by their elders for doing a “good job”. It’s something that is mentally very sick.

Black here and I’ve faced this exact kind of mindset. I don’t know how it got misconstrued that one can be exempt from racism but the truth is many black people have a problem addressing issues inside the community. I was born in the us and my moms Haitian so if someone asked what I was I’d clarify that. That amount of children that responded with “I don’t like Haitians” was crazy. Even more ridiculous was when I asked for their reasons it was always some flimsy “idk I just don’t”. One girl flat out said she had an issue with me now and I called her racist. The went to her saying “I’m not racist I just don’t like Haitians”. If a white person said that there would be hell to pay but no cause your black you get some gross exemption. It annoys me when media likes to only portray black people as unambiguously United to some issue and painting the picture that only something on the outside harms us. Sad truth is a lot of stuff that brings us down is glossed over cause it mean addressing internal problems that aren’t caused be outside factors. There were adults talking about a “racist” killing a black guy on his home when the truth was the guy broke in and appropriately got bodied for it. Penny and her friends will decry Zoe for getting the affections of a light skin guy that doesn’t like darker girls. Nobody talks about that guys hookup and Zoe is the problem like wtf? The show has a very skewered perspective that hasn’t don’t well at addressing some of the big things they try to especially when it comes to race.

I took English 11 with him and the second semester of that class was literally black history/crt class. I remember learning about how black people were "kidnapped by white people" and sent away to stolen Native American land. I had a Chinese friend who hated this crap and spoke out against. He could sort of get away with it because he wasn't white, unlike me.

Racism does *NOT* equal oppression. That's something I've noticed with POC who are racist. They think because they were also oppressed, that they can't be racist because they aren't 'oppressing' anyone when they are being racist. That is NOT true. Racism is hating someone because of their ethnicity or the color of their skin. And no matter what race YOU are, as long as you show hate towards another race, that makes YOU racist.

I’ll give you one argument. This show is supposed to represent not just race or gender but also age. These are kids and the show is about kids growing up in modern day society. So… what are we teaching our kids?

I'm white, half Mongolian. I grew up in inner city Minneapolis. I was shot in the back at a young age by a black man who wanted me dead for the color of my skin. I was crippled from the waist down because of racism. But it didn't turn me racist. Why? I was raised right. I look at the individual, not the people. Not the skin, not the way they speak, just their words and actions
