Why care when most might have a job where you do more for less with no tip. It's harder to be a waiter than a worker at mcdonalds only in the fact of the application, but most people at mcdonalds have to work more than one type of job during the day. Trust me. Worked in fast food and regular foods. You have so many people (some with families surviving off their fast food jobs. Some even pushing themselves through college. With both experiences you can truly see who's entitled.

Is that supposed to make it not racist? So if a black guy won't hire me because i am black, all of a sudden it's not racist because he is black? It still is racism and , I got news for you, black people can be racist towards other black people. The 'herman cane' defense is inadmissible in court.
@jimo200610 жыл бұрын
lineartechbd1600 I think what shes saying is that racism has nothing to do with it. Whether the server is white, asian, black orange purple ..whatever ..black people just dont tip and I completely agree with Teresa Kerr . However I have no problem being less 'politically correct' than she, because I honestly believe that the majority of blacks are more racist than the average American! They dont tip! They have a chip on their shoulder. They feel the world owes them something..and by god...they're going to get it!

My wife works at Outback Steakhouse. She says that most black people she encounters not only don't tip well they also are constantly sending the server to get ranch and bread every 5 seconds. That said however there are black people that tip my wife very well, are very respectful, and most importantly don't linger at the table preventing her from getting another customer. So to generalize that most black people don't tip well, to me is wrong. Unless I saw some indisputable statistics or polls. There are many other people who don't tip well. Like the elderly, churchgoers, and the WEALTHY. Yeah that's right the wealthy. These rich asses don't spare a dime. My wife told me once she had a lady order the most expensive things on the menu and then leave her nothing. Come to find out that the lady was a relative of her coworker that told her she was one of the wealthiest people in town. To be honest the population isn't aware of the low wages servers receive or just don't know what a good tip is. I wouldn't say it's about race rather there are people who have once been servers and there are people who have never been.

I'm a server at a restaurant in Orlando, Florida. I KNOW how frustrated you are. I work the later shift and the bar rush from the black clubs come in, special order EVERYTHING, run you to death, so much, you can't get to your other tables, then either stiff you on the tip or leave a dollar or two, if you're lucky, on a $50 or more check. I've been doing this for 25+ years, and it's been the same in every restaurant, none of the servers, even black servers, do not want to wait on black customers, and that is REALLY sad. It is an embarrassment to you're culture.

I have been a server for years and I agree with the gentleman's viewpoint on people racialized as black who don't tip. But what is the most frustrating is they don't tip and find it FUNNY. What is so funny about depriving somebody of their livelihood? And what I find the most disturbing are the WOMEN who date these men that don't tip. What kind of women respects a man who has no respect for other people? Tragic, to say the least
@MSG68511 жыл бұрын
I served for years, when black people would come in all the servers would pray that they didn't get seated in their section. They receive worse service because the server assumes they are going to be working for free. Especially if they have two or three other tables. They aren't going to risk giving bad service to a table because they have to run their asses off for someone that is going to insult them with $1.80 on $60.00 check.

Thank you! It's so gross when Black people don't tip properly. My friend (black girl) was a server and she HATED serving black people. I always tip 18-25%, no less than 18% regardless of service. I work at a high-end steakhouse ($65-125/person) in St. Louis. The wait staff is about half white, half black. My problem is the way that I'm shaping my views towards blacks. I considered myself a pretty progressive/ liberal guy before I started working at this location, which happens to be visited by a lot of African Americans. There are certain days (Fridays) which are worse than others. Fortunately, in my situation, it kind of evens out with the tips... But what I really fear, is that my perception of minorities will be permanently damaged. It's not really about the $50-100 that I may lose on a daily basis... but more about how this repeated disrespect will invariably effect my world view... This is unfortunate. Honestly, I never alter my service because I consider myself a professional, which is more important than how a few (about 25%, at this restaurant) guests treat me. On the flip side -- there are those one out of fifty black guests, who make up for all of their uncivilized brethren... and tip crazy -- 50% +...

I'll be honest, too, when I was a waitress--and I am White--I would get nervous sometimes when I had Black people sitting at my table because I was thinking, "Oh my goodness, if I make a mistake or if their food comes out wrong, are they gonna think, 'Oh, it's because she's racist!'?" I'm NOT racist, but I wondered if the Black people at my table would just automatically think that about me.

I will give every table (White, black, young, old, raggedy lookin or wealthy lookin) the same exact quality of service because I believe in being professional. I live in a city in Georgia of around 200,000 people with a diverse population of around 55% black, 40% white, and 5% other races. While serving tables the past 8 years I've had awesome tips from all different types of people, I even have a family of four black ladies who always request my section and tip me $20 each time on around a $60 bill. I've also gotten really bad tips from all types of people ($2 on $168 tab, I almost cried.) Sadly, I have noticed that around 70% of black tables will tip less than 15% compared to around 20% of white tables who tip less than 15%. It makes me sad, but it is data I've collected. Also sad is some of the rudest people I deal with are younger black people who have tried to steal money from me by lying about paying me, put their own hair in food to get free stuff, etc. I've been accused of being racist because a white table of 2 with mostly fried food got their entrees before a family of 6 black people who ordered well done steaks and ribs. My only hope is that people will do their best at taking care of their tables and whether people tip well or not YOU KNOW AT THE END OF THE DAY you tried your best and it's not your fault those people tipped poorly. Philippians 4:19 says "I will provide for you the riches and glory of The Lord" or as I like to paraphrase it "THE LORD PROVIDES."

I love you for going off, You went in. Sadly it's the truth. I always tip 15%. Being in Customer Service myself I know how it is...

It's not just one race, so many people don't know how to tip in general. Those shitty tippers need to come out and be a server for a month and see how they like it.
@jeffw12677 жыл бұрын
It's not just one race, but it's mostly blacks and to a lesser extent Mexicans. A server who sees nothing but white patrons will be a happy server. That's why it's hard to get a server's job in white neighborhoods.

I run to the door when I see a black table walking in so that I can seat them in ANOTHER SERVERS SECTION! I don't want em, so I have to get to em first to make damn sure that they don't get sat in my section!

What's hilarious is when you see it coming and you can give a little extra something special in the food. They wouldn't be laughing if they knew the types of special additives they are most likely eating. Yes, it is disgusting, but was listening to my son's teenage friends discussing how they would take the used silverware from the last table and gives it a swirl in the used water glass from the customers before and it goes right back on the table. I used to bartend and have I have heard of everything from boogers to pubes to saliva in alcoholic beverages from the bar and crazy food contamination from pissed off servers. You name it. It was in the paper not long ago that a server used the info from a non-tipper's credit card to look them up on Linked-In and to send negative information to the diner's employer, causing them all kinds of headaches because they had no idea who was doing it. I don't know, I would rather take care if those who take care of me than chow down on a pissed off server's body fluids unknowingly.

I always tip between 17%-22% depending on the service, but I calculate tge tip before tax, some places show you tbe suggested tips on the bottom with tax included, I didn't order or eat tax so that gets subtracted, I take the total before tax and use that to calculate my tip.

Yeah, this was on point, LOL. I have a few friends who don't tip well... or, sometimes, at all. I usually tip between 18 and 20%.

also what people don't understand is that these servers only get $2/hr or less and have to pay out a percentage of each bill at the end of the night! So if you stiff your server, they are actually losing money by you not tipping. You non/bad tippers suck at life. How would you like to work for people and not get paid!? Also, everyone knows your tricks. You eat your whole friggin meal, and then say "I aint payin' fo dis, I aint like it"....and expect it to be free. Your not fooling anyone. Way to stick to the stereotypes and bitch and moan when people call you out on them. Don't go out to eat if you cant afford to leave 16-20%. I love restaurants that have mandatory gratuity!

I drive a cab in vegas, i always give good service to anyone. Of course i want big tips, but i dont mind getting low tips or sttiffed if thats all they can afford. I hate it when i have 4 passengers wearing rare jordans and dont leave tips. I hate it when a passenger came from a nightclub, most likely spent hundreds of dollars, wearing a thousand dollar suit and give me 8$ on a 7.65$ fare

Because tipping doesn’t make any sense. All workers should be paid a fair wage by their employer and they shouldn’t be forced to beg from the customer. I don’t go out to eat in order to worry about your rent. That being said, I’m a white dude and I tip 20% in cash, but it’s a crazy system.

A black "preacher" came into my fiancés restaurant the other day, and shes a bartender but had to fill in for a server. The guy tells her point blank "im going to run you ragged like you did to my people". He was not joking. My fiancé was this close to suing his ass but nobody else heard it. She refused to serve him, and got someone else to take the table. The dickhead left the girl a "0". But you are right.....even black servers don't want to wait on the black guests. Its sad. Is it because they don't understand percentages....?

Lol the funny thing it's not even racist. It's the truth. The general African American doesn't tip. But the more professional and elegant ones do. The general white, Asian, Indian, Hispanic etc. Tip well
