I do like tanks but my first love is Napoleonics. I met Bernard Cornwell as well at a book signing, great guy. His Sharpe books sparked my love for Naps. I've always liked your historical info sections/tangents on your videos, keep them up. Cheers.

The latest info was Wavre was a struggle over 2 stone bridges in the town .Grouchy was delayed by burning buildings and long thin lanes with high banks through a forest was what slowed the approach by Prussians and the following French . Napolean learnt of their approach hours earlier , as well as Wellington did

Interesting. My knowledge of Waterloo is more than 25 years out of date... I had meant to be open about that. Very much abroad brush narrative, rather than necessarily a detailed accurate one. I just hoped to give people a feel for the battle and its critical developments.

Always love your videos! And I really liked the mini history lesson. Really told in a fun way. I also bought this set in the states for a ridiculous price of about $75 US. Dirt cheap and do the same thing of paint up a regiment every now and then and slowly build a force. It’s a shed ton of models to paint!

Great unboxing as always, gents! LOL, when you said, "Did you break something already" "No, not this time!" I had immediate flashbacks to Jonny B snapping that Victory at Sea ship in half! Priceless! 🤣🤣🤣 Also, I really enjoyed that but if history at the end! Pretty cool to learn! Keep up the great work, gents! ~ Wolfbrother Methos

Love the unboxing, but I think I most liked the talk about the history of the battle as well. I always wanted to get into this type of game/time period, but hard to find people in my area wanting to play. Which I think is sad.

That is a shame Frank.... It seems so daunting looking at it... And how many dudes you need.... But the reward for putting the effort in I expect is quite spectacular on the tabletop!.... You should get one... Lovingly paint it, then demo it to people...... Create a revolution! The black powder rules don't seem over complex either.... Hopefully can scratch the itch of historical and casual gamers alike.

Dose the Napoleonic wars work at that scale as clashes between armies then were usually battalion sized at least and at that scale you can't do much larger then company sized engagements.
@ModellingforAdvantage
@ModellingforAdvantage 3 жыл бұрын
By convention, units of 24 or 36 figs are usually battalions, so roughly 1 to 20 men scale. Most games are going to be around division strength, which is small, but believable for the period.

In Bolt Action there are a lot of weapon options, in a squad every model can have a different weapon. In the Napoelonic era there were only a few weapons with regiments wearing the same weapon. That's why they don't made them like these minis.

A great look in the box. I guess there will be Black Powder on the channel now... No commands in the box. The other thing about the army at Waterloo is that it wasn't the one from the Peninsula, so neither side was really 'veteran'. Can't kitbash the figures...challenge accepted Thanks for the shout out!

I'm enjoying the reviews. You strike a healthy balance between the gamers who will want a distinct fighting force but won't be wanting to put off gaming,and the purists who will disallow a strip of Soldiers if their water bottles are the wrong shape. But you haven't noticed the elephant in the room. Fair enough it wasn't noticed in the film; hard enough to spot among the carpet-chewing stars of British rep theatre and the method acting giants of Hollywood. You could rely on Sharpe to fail to notice it as well. Although he was with Wellesley I India so you'd think he'd know an elephant when it was practically following him around his somewhat oddly shaped battlefield. The Prince of Orange was practically sitting on the damn thing. Yes, which box contains the Dutch-Belgian army, that saved Wellington's blushes by holding up the French left for 24 hours until Wellington could extricate himself from the Duchess of Richmond's party? (MY GOD, HE'S STOLEN A MARCH ON ME!) The Dutch Belgians he been fighting Ney all night. Picton's Division arrived late in the afternoon of the 16th, allowing Perponcher and Bylandt and the rest of the Brigade Commanders to ignore their hysterical Prince, fall back and reorganise. The excellent dutch-belgian cavalry screened the withdrawal. Wellington gave the credit for this action entirely to the Life Guards and Royal Horse Artillery, but neither of these units reached the battlefield They took over much further up the Brussels Road, and they hadn't been in contact with the pursuing enemy for 24 hours at that point, either - although they did hold off the few troops that were still chasing. Dutch-Belgian units were interspersed with British units all along the Ridge at Mont St Jean. You won't read about them in Wellington's dispatch, and they aren't present in either of the two models so it's no wonder they're absent from the miniature figurines. But they made up 30 to 40% of Wellington's troops (depending on including or excluding reserves and units too far away to be effective, etc.) Without them Napoleon would have had Ney's support against the Peruvians, or just as likely, would have found Picton and the reserve division being swallowed bit by bit as they scrambled down from Brussels in a straggling line. Abba would have had to sing in French!
