I grew up in Oak Cliff, TX and I used to walk by an abandoned theater in my neighborhood called The Kessler. 25 years later I had the privilege of seeing the Black Pumas play at this renovated theater. It only has a capacity for 400-500 people maximum so you can imagine the energy in such a small venue. Absolutely nothing compares to seeing them live. Words can't explain how I feel when I listen to them...

I've just been introduced to this band by a friend. Best thing I've heard in years! "Dirty Dirty" is a Crazy Horse cover - Danny Whitten! And "Colors" may just be the song that heals America. They seem to have channeled every important aspect of American music, along with all of the diverse American cultures, and condensed them into a bunch of groovy tunes without diluting anything at all. Amazing. I'm pretty sure that lots of folk (including myself) have had this music in their heads for a long time. Many of us have tried to bring these wayward elements together, with varying results, but these chaps have nailed it. This may just be the peak of American music. Brilliant.
