Yeah, I'd have to go with a tie here also. Both are brilliant, and both came out during a time when Metal wasn't popular anymore and helped carry the genre through the boring 90s. I did see Dio on the tour for this album. My first time seeing him on stage. Hope you're feeling better, man!

When "Angry Machines" came out I thought it was awesome. And I still think it is! Years later I learned (to my surprise) through the internet that many people did not like it. How can you have a problem with Dio making a heavy album like that? Even R.J. Dio himself later had his doubts about this album and thought that "Angry Machines" should have been called "Strange Highways", because it is so different. In the years after that, Dio came up with three studio albums, of which only the great "Master of the Moon" showed some similarities with those dark themed lyrics from the 90s 🙂

Anyone notice how the Cross Purposes album cover looks like the one used for Scorpions send me an angel? I personally prefer Cross Purposes. Angry Machines is my least favorite Dio album and doesn’t do a lot for me
