It's my birthday today, happy birthday me! Man, those 23 years were a hell of a (glory) ride!

I remember getting this album on cassette for a Christmas present when it came out. My only source of Sabbath news back then were things like Hit Parader and Circus, so I had no idea there'd be a new line-up on the new album, keeping in mind that I had just seen them on the Seventh Star tour the year before (My first ever concert), and was anxiously awaiting a new album by that version of the band. So when I put it on for the first time and read the liner notes (Tony Martin?!), I was quite disappointed for a little while. IMO, As an album, I think it stands up quite well after all these years (Title track is absolutely epic!). Happy Birthday Dude! Cheers!!

I can imagine being disappointed with Ray Gillen not being the singer on this album at first, especially considering how fantastic he was on the Seventh Star tour. I really like Tony Martin, but I feel like Ray Gillen's voice was a bit stronger and made the songs more powerful. Have you heard the Eternal Idol songs with Ray on vocals? I mean the extra CD with all tracks performed by Gillen, dude was a monster! Good 80s rock will never die. Thank you!
