I've loved Sabbath since I was ten years old. I'm not going to tell you my age, (50) but their songs helped me through skool, just as grunge helped me through my twenties!❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Cruising down route 66 on a 1891 KZ750. The ultimate iron horse for the ride. Sun beatin' down hard on a day that doesn't know what wind is. Desery on either side. The cent of hot tarmac string in the air. Holding at a steady 45 and in no hurry. Long hair being pulled back by a breeze brought on by my momentum. Perfectly strait trail set along the centre of the road painted in unmissable white, dazzling in the endless sun. Eagles seen, some soaring, some sat by the roadside anticipating a kill. In my head grew a memory of a past ended distant sound. Echoing through my mind it's on repeat, a ever ending loop of exquisite music. Far away mountains slowly grow as at this sedate pace, the miles are gradually eaten leaving an increasing distance in my wake. Not sure that clashing of mighty bastard swords wielded by huge muscular warriors of righteousness is what I was seeing to this song. My mini adventure was smooth and stress free, more of a soaking up all that is right instead of fighting for the right to breathe. That's two music vids in a row that I've watched where you've shared your visions. You know what? I love it. I don't feel so alone when someone else "sees things" as well. As of early this morning GMT an email is sent. TTFN.

If you liked this, you will love their album, Tyr, my favorite from the Tony Martin era. Try Valhalla next, a killer tune right there with Immigrant Song for best hard charging, unreal Viking tunes. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

I loved this reaction, as always with your great reactions! It's so refreshing to see someone who "gets" music and hear your thoughts. (I think in order to get the lyrics on this, it was necessary to turn on your closed caption setting.) Another great Black Sabbath song featuring the great underrated and underappreciated Tony Martin on vocals ("When Death Calls"). This song is about WWII fighter pilots. ("Into the sights of the enemies guns"; "Where eagles dare, the fate of a nation's at hand".) I think the word you were probably searching for is a "driving" rhythm. As always, great music written and played by the great Tony Iommi. Wonderful!

I moved the mouse to turn on the closed captions, but they weren't available (at least not for me when I did it). I have seen a lot of videos on YT say 'lyrics' in the title, but the lyrics not be in the video itself (instead pasted in the description). When the CC didn't work I assumed that was the case for this one - but even so, I understood the majority of what was said. :)

@@mikeg.4211 that may not have been the case. It may have just had a fluke and the captions not been available for me. 🤷‍♀ Either way, no worries. :)

From this album my favorite is the title track Eternal Idol, a slow doom laden track, featuring another one of Iommi's sledgehammer riffs. Many years after the initial release of this album, a deluxe version was released that also had the songs with the original singer Ray Gillan.

Considering he had only a week to record the vocals, Tony Martin did a fine job re-recording Ray Gillen's melody lines. He would be even better on albums he could fully contribute in, such as "Headless Cross" and "Tyr".

I love this album!! I bought it in on cassette in 1987, and the album cover really intrigued me. From what I remember, Sabbath had hired singer Ray Gillan (who later fronted Badlands) for this album, but something went wrong, and Tony Martin came in and re-recorded the vocals. I've always thought that Iommi was lucky to find such a fantastic singer in a pinch. Loved your reaction as always! Btw, Cross Purposes is the best Tony Martin era Sabbath album in my opinion. Check out anything from that album....you won't be sorry. 😉

Haha I have lots of notepads! But I will set my list down, be interrupted, do other things for an extended time and (if/when free) forget all about the list. Using my hand ensures that I will see whatever it is once I have a moment to notice. 😂

That's some deep cuts, kid! The Tony Martin era is largely unexplored by reactors- definitely check out Nightwing, Anno Mundi, When Death Calls, Eternal Idol, Kiss of Death, Psychophobia, I Witness- Tony was with Sabbath longer than Ozzy, and was a great balance between the Ozzy & Dio eras.
