The Tony Martin years were Sabbath at their best, and the cream of these years is the headless Cross album, Tony Martin was at his peak live from 86- 90, this is just a fantastic rendition of Headless Cross, hitting all the right notes and giving plenty of that dark Satanic feel,...... and not forgetting the incomparable cozy Powell on Drums, RIP, .........this is Metal, pure genius

steveo2857 I hate that he doesn't even try to hit "the" note in the song. I can, so there's no excuse for him to not even try it with falsetto or head voice.

Hi Anjohl,..... a couple of years before and he would have, but by '89 the strain was already just starting to tell, IMO this is still a fantastic rendition of Headless Cross even without him hitting the High "Headless Cross" note,...... you've gotta know your limitations, and by the early to mid 90's Tony's voice was so fucked up he was a mere shadow of his former self, but for me, this is Sabbath at their very best with or without the high notes!!.

steveo2857 I am an amateur, and I can hit those notes with full voice, head voice, and falsetto. Surely if they did it early in the set, he could hit the note twice even? Is there a live version where he does?

Yep , something happened to his voice after 90"s , it's obvious! And complaining about hit the highest note of this song , there's a lot of high notes in most of the songs he sings , just pay attention and you'll see! Search for "Devil and Daughter live 89" , he hit his highest note (probably) in live , an Eb5 , which is pretty good...And of couse , i'm sure that's not his full vocal range , just his tessitura!

Their best notes in this song are in 1990 shows, specially Amsterdam and Copenhagen. Manchester has great notes, too!

2:26 even here hes singing with a backing track. I dont think he's ever sang without help live.

That‘s just a delay effect on his voice. The only thing coming from a backing track is the ´headles crossˋ choir...obviously, since BS never had background singers,.....he sings amazing here and it´s no fucking backingtrackm

Anyone remember why this concert was moved to the Concert hall? I was there but don’t recall it ever being at Varsity as the ticket lists it.

here Tony was wonderful. But why he never tried to sing the chorus?
