@@Thomasmemoryscentral I'm really glad you found this awesome episode of Black Sabbath! I love the original lineup with Ozzy, and Dio brought his own element into the mix. Born Again with Ian Gillan is one of my favourites because it created a fantastic album out of two worlds! If you haven't listened to Born Again do so!!! The total lineup change when Tony Martin came in was a smash hit here in Sweden and the rest of Scandinavia, but there were zero marketing apart from MTV... sigh. Should've been a much greater episode if it had been marketed, like they say in the video here... And later when Ozzy came back and they reunited (apart from Bill Ward sadly) the Tony Martin era was kept hidden by forces (read; Sharon Osborne...) but finally Tony & co are able/allowed to re-release the albums - and I WISH do a couple one off gigs?! Headless Cross is such an awesome track - and with phenomenal drums by the one and only Cozy Powell!!! (R.I.P.) There's something excellent from all the different episodes of Black Sabbath and arguing who's better etc is pointless because they're all different and that's the great thing about them all! Rock on dude and have an awesome day!!! 🤘😁🤘 p.s. Even Rob Halford fronted Black Sabbath back in 1992 when Dio refused to play on the same venue as Ozzy... Interesting but perhaps more of a footnote... ;)

@capnkaba8 ай бұрын
That’s actually what sparked this current resurgence of the Tony Martin content: the fact that they _can’t_ do a new album. At least under the Sabbath name. According to Tony Martin, he and Tony Iommi actually did discuss the possibility of recording some new songs and rereleasing the original Martin albums, similar to what they had done with Dio. However, as it turns out, there’s apparently an agreement that any *new* music created under the Sabbath name can only include the original 4 members. They can, however, rerelease any Sabbath music with any lineup, which is why we’re getting a Tony Martin box set at the end of May.

The Eternal Idol was reissued a couple of years ago. The Tony Martin albums apart from that one are being reissued in a boxset at the end of May 2024 so the rest of the discography will be easy to find and purchase. The Dio albums were never difficult to find, and I also bought Born Again and Seventh Star very easily. The issue with these Tony Martin albums were the record labels they came out on, particularly IRS for Headless Cross, Tyr, Forbidden and Cross Purposes. It went bust in 1996. That was the issue with the rights to these albums, nothing to do with Sharon Osbourne. She doesn't own the rights to the Black Sabbath name. If she did own the name, Black Sabbath would have continued with Ozzy fronting it and any backing musicians they wanted. It would not have continued with Iommi.

The heaviest sound ever made in music! My favourite album, and the unforgetable "Black Moon" from it!.

TM's theatrical mannerisms are on full display in this vid. Guy was a great addition to the band and brought in something new & fresh. An excellent frontman overall.

Call me crazy, but The Eternal Idol is my favorite Sabbath album, love Tony Martin, would love a "Headless Cross" band tour or something.

It's a fantastic album, one of their very best and its Tony Martin's interpretation of Ray Gillens melodies that really elevate it.
@justsomedude57278 ай бұрын
@@nicksmith8557 Martin definetly brings a lot to the album, but I would say what really elevates it is Bob Daisley's songwriting and bass playing.

Everyone plays better when the vocalist is so good. Powell enjoying it too.

Especially since how unstable Sabbath's lineup was for most of the eighties he finally had a reliable team. But sadly he quickly abandoned them for a Dio reunion that collapsed quickly.
