A beautiful song with a powerfull message. You can’t live in the past because you can’t go back and change it and you also cant’t live in the future because future is not certain. I was a 8 years old kid when I was snooping around my dad's music shelf. I had no music preference whatsoever back then, so my attention was mainly focused on the covers. Then I found a Blade Runner-looking cover with some kind of futuristic zombie. Then I realized there were other records with the same zombie, but in different disguises. Impressed by the art, I decided to put the disk in to hear it. I loved every single track, especially this one. However, there was something that bugged me: I didn't know what the lyrics said. Why, I'm Spanish, and I didn't understand English. Nowadays is simple enough, but back then, my English classes were so basic that in the end, I didn't learn anything more than colours and numbers. My mother never learned English, and dad's English was none out of this world. Without internet and the like, learning it was even more difficult. Needless to say an English Academy was really expensive back in the day. So I picked a dictionary and the album's booklet, and tried to figure out what the hell did they sing. It was really frustrating, because I felt that I wasn't making any progress at all. Even with the key words, I didn't understand. English's grammar is way different from Spanish's, so everything was just like a malicious puzzle. But I was stubborn enough to keep trying. Even if I didn't understand much, my vocabulary increased significantly. So did my listening. I was actually learning English by myself. Just to understand the lyrics. I didn't have any other goal. Then... BANG! internet came. With the basis I had already learned, everything went so easy... Full translations, videos, movies, dictionaries of all kind, free grammar lessons, slang, archaisms... I did it. Now I can understand every song, meet incredible people whom I'd never known by just speaking my mother language. Use it for working, free time, learning about other stuff... And it all began thanks to them. Iron Maiden just taught me English. They opened an entire new world before me. My, those weren't wasted years...

From the coast of gold, across the seven seas Travelin' on, far and wide But now it seems I'm just a stranger to myself And all the things I sometimes do, it isn't me but someone else I close my eyes and I think of home Another city goes by in the night Ain't it funny how it is? You never miss it til' it's gone away And my heart is lying there, will be 'til my dying day, Adrian! So understand Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years Face up, make your stand Realize you're living in the golden years Too much time on my hands, I got you on my mind Can't ease this pain so easily When you can't find the words to say, hard to make it through another day And it makes me wanna cry, throw my hands up to the sky So understand Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years Face up, make your stand Realize you're living in the golden years, hey! So understand, Adrian! Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years Face up, make your stand Realize you're living in the golden years So understand Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years Face up, make your stand Realize you're living in the golden years, hey!

“The ones who don’t make it to heaven did not realize I am the love of their life and they are the love of mine.” -Jesus “In the places you have looked for me, you won’t find me.” His love for us individually: Psalms 139: 17How amazing are your thoughts concerning me, God! How vast is the sum of them! 18Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand on the sea- He has an appointment with us every morning: Job 7 17“What is mankind that you make so much of them, that you give them so much attention, 18that you examine them every morning and test them every moment? Jesus created us, we are his Masterpiece: Colossians 1 The Supremacy of the Son of God 15The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. I was surprised he knew me individually: Psalms 139 13For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Acts 17 26From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28‘For in him we live and move and have our being. The Bible says God hands us our every breath. As long as we are alive, he is longing for us to turn back to him, we are his child, the joy of his life. He is the Embodiment of Love. He has one need and that is to love. Our reason for being. Our sole purpose in life is to find him. To remember him. He is the love of our life and we are the love of his. He gives us infinite chances to come back to him in this life because he unconditionally loves us, way beyond even the love our parents feel for us. Take the bate he gives you. Do not reject him. Try him. “He is wooing you from the jaws of distress (demons, hell, eternal horror and fear, separation from God and his attributes) into a spacious place, free of restriction.” “When you’ve tried everything else, try me.” -God He is not against anyone of us: Ezekiel 18 21“But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die. 22None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteous things they have done, they will live. 23Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live? Joel 2 Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. 14Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing. Isaiah 30:18 Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion… How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you. Psalms 139 4Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. A month ago, Jesus gave me the most precious gift I could ever ask for. It was a vision of himself watching me with his loving eyes on me. He looked over at me from where he was sitting in a chair with the most loving caring smile, like he had always been watching me…even before I came to know him. Even more than fatherly, it was a motherly kind of love, not as if to say “what are you doing today?” but “how are you doing?” He really cared about me like my own mother would, I was surprised to see that kind of love. I knew immediately that’s how he watched everyone, with the care of both a father and a mother. He smiled and without moving his mouth, I heard him say “I will never leave you.” A few days later, I had two repeated dreams of that vision, and I heard this verse immediately after it both times: Psalms 32 8I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Jesus wants to pour out his heart to us: Proverbs 1 23If you had repented at my rebuke, then surely I would have poured out my thoughts to you; I would have made my teachings known to you. Psalms 25 14The Lord confides in those who fear him. Amos 4 He reveals his thoughts to mankind. Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ Isaiah 45 I would not have told the people of Israel to seek me, if I could not be found. Jeremiah 29 11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14I will be found by you,” declares the Lord. Jeremiah 10:23 23Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps. Psalms 37 4Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this. Matthew 6:8 Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. These verses really helped me move my fear/respect/need for attention away from humans and over to God: Isaiah 2 22Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem? Mathew 10 28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 10The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Proverbs 8 13To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. psalms 86 5You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. Jeremiah 33:9 They will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide. 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Psalms 53 2God looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. 1 Chronicles 28 Acknowledge the God of your fathers, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. 10Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you! When we sin, we partner with demons. When we’ve given into them and been a slave to them in this life, they own us for eternity. In eternity, we are on their turf in their kingdom-outside of God’s protection. They hate us. Torture is their game. Torture did not originate with man, but demons. Do not partner with the demon of lust, demon of anger, demon of addiction…etc. These are not just innocent temptations we all have; anyone who has had sleep paralysis has briefly met the demon/s that will own them forever. God uses dreams to warn us: Job 33 14For God does speak-now one way, now another-though no one perceives it. 15In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds, 16he may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, 17to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, 18to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword. ……..29“God does all these things to a person- twice, even three times- 30to turn them back from the pit, that the light of life may shine on them. James 4 7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Come near to God and he will come near to you. It was so easy to see other’s faults but never my own. psalms 19 12But who can discern their own errors? We are always on his mind, he cares and thinks about us continually, as a Father cares about his child. Jeremiah 12:3 3Yet you know me, Lord; you see me and test my thoughts about you. If you want to know God, all you have to do is ask Him. Great days lie ahead! Much love, Amy

Lyric's From the coast of gold, across the seven seas Travelin' on, far and wide But now it seems I'm just a stranger to myself And all the things I sometimes do, it isn't me but someone else I close my eyes and I think of home Another city goes by in the night Ain't it funny how it is?

Can anybody imagine how it is to discover ALL songs of Iron Maiden in my age for the very first time? It is unbelievable and just heavenly to listen to all theyr albums since i discovered this band in december 2022. Of course i knew this band from theyr name but... no band and no music in my whole life gave me this kind of powerful and emotional feelings. Tears, smiles, goosebumps, happyness and love for month now. I love Iron Maiden so much and it is the greatest gift i can imagine to discover all theyr music, all theyr fantastic songs. Amazing song, and the text hits you hard when you're living every day with depression, wasting year after year looking back on how you could have done things differently. It's sad to think that many people will spend their lives thinking that rock and metal is music that has a bad influence on young people, without realizing that it is music that heals the mind and soul. The golden era is something unrepeatable, we have to preserve songs like this for eternity, so that future generations can discover what was true music many years from now, when only left commercial garbage.

My dad bought me this cassette in 1988 when I was 10 years old. I cant believe I'm still rocking out to it 33 years later. This is my favorite song off that album

I'm taking my 9 yr old son and I to see Maiden in Atlanta this weekend! I am so excited. Never seen them live. Waited my whole life to see them. Always had something going or was broke when they came to town before. Well, all the planets aligned this time for the opportunity to happen. Been a fan since i was 7 years old when Somewhere In Time came out. This was the song that hooked me! Shout out to my old babysitter who had the cassette and played it for me back then.

@@Tiski_jukka The show was fantastic! We really had a great time. Those guys really know how to put on a concert. They had such great energy. The stage show was incredible. And the setlist was great. I wished they played something from Somewhere In Time. But honestly I can't complain. The show was top notch.

For god sakes Iron Maiden better be elected into the Hall of Fame rock and roll this year Bruce Dickerson on his own stop and think he flies the band around Europe and around the world on a 747 that he pilots on his merits alone deserves some sort of recognition these guys have withstood the sands of time and definitely deserve the recognition

Iron Maiden doesn't need the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They have legions of fans worldwide after decades. The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame would be lucky to have them.

R&R HOF too busy inducting shitty gangsta rap thugs to earn PC social virtue signaling points to care about actual "Rock" music. As long as Run DMC and LL Cool J, etc are inducted that's all that matters to the clowns that run the clown show.
