This is obviously just Ozzy trying to establish melody line for the vocals. They already did overdubs for the guitars. Bill Ward and Geezer tight as hell as usual. Why they never moved forward on this song getting on MOR is the question. Probably just scrapped it because they had enough material already.
@joelmalone79223 жыл бұрын
It sucks that they release this on the original album because it's a great rocker with Tony, Geezer, and Bill at their early, collective best. If it were my choice of what the tracklist would've been on the original release I would've added 'Weevil Woman' and the original version of 'LotW' with slide guitar and piano accompaniment. An already classic album almost above reproach would've made it even more perfect, if that's even possible... I also think that 'Solitude' is their best ballad because it's not killed by cheesiness, saccharine, and over-arranging. Solitude benefits for the reasons that it happens to be pretty minimalist with a simple arrangement using electric guitar, flute, piano (which is basically one backwards piano chord placed in the background), finger cymbal, and bass.
@_PuppetMaster863 жыл бұрын
I prefer "Lord Of This World" the way it is on the album. Piano and slide guitar would've watered down its doominess. It's a perfect doom metal song with the only four things needed in a traditional prime Sabbath song: Ozzy's vocals, Tony's guitar riffs, Geezer's bass, and Bill's drums. A little cowbell if needed.
@robbieclark78286 жыл бұрын
I would love to have heard this one with a set of lyrics from Geezer and perhaps a polished melody. I think the riff is strong but a bit weird, Ozzy didn’t really bring the power on this one so it doesn’t feel quite right, but it’s just an ad libbed guide vocal so I get it.
@karlmcintyre2146 жыл бұрын
Robbie Clark it’s an open jam in the studio. Ozzy is only making stuff up as it goes. They did this all the time. Not a finished product so try not to get so disheartened 🤘🏻

I love the riff and the solo, but it seems obvious to me that the lyrics were almost improvised, ozzys vocals are a mess in this.
