18:08 Another great scene that makes fantastic use of the entire set. You have the main characters having a conversation in the foreground while two side characters step outside and duke it out, largely to prove the point that is being discussed at the table. Such a great way to tie the dialogue to the surroundings.

This has to be one of my favorite episodes! Like there are others (XXVII) that I watch and say "best episode of television I've ever seen" etc, but this one! The STORM!!!! 😍 It's always just SO incredible! And I always forget how early on in s3 it is. CIN! E MA! TIC! The final episode of S2 was the turning point for me re: really enjoying Silver, and these scenes with Muldoon are so heartwrending and vital to his character. Luke A is fantastic. And the Max/Anne/Jack triumvirate scenes! And Teach!!! Everything is perfect!

The words that dream Miranda is saying are what she said to him before she convinced him to bring Abigail to Charlestown: "Come with me so I can save your life." :( And Eric is right that the figure of Death is very very similar to the one we saw in the play at the tavern, which is a neat detail. You could argue that in the dream, Miranda saves him from this Death with her scream, turning his attention away from it and waking him.

All the crew members not knowing how to tie knots into trees and losing their shares of gold in the bathroom really makes you understand why Flint did not trust any of them with the information about the Urca de Lima in the pilot episode.

And why Flint was going to sequester a portion of the gold for himself. He did not trust any of their judgement.

That Devil is Davy Jones. Pirates of the Caribbean make him a rival to defeat, but he's represents death for sailors/pirates.

And to think back to early Muldoon, when he was just the guy complaining about Silver's undercooked pig, or threatening Randall to not spit in his food.

When we get to the end of this season you need to show them the video your editor made for vane in the original black sails reactions.

I often say Teach is like "The Godfather" who comes back to town to find "The Sopranos" running things and he's not impressed. 😂

on re-re-rewatch i do find blackbeards clashing ideology with charles and jack very interesting. It almost reminds me of a classic boomers struggle to relate to, for lack of a better analogy, a gay son. Theres such a fundamental difference of experience between when blackbeard "grew up" and the world that vane and jack and flint have come to know and create together. a difference in values, while he tries to awaken vane to his line of thinking. Its fascinating

Man the screams of anguish that silver lets out because he’s helpless to save his bud that he never planned on being buds with, it’s so sad
