+TheAbsoluteTruthzz my god yes, production quality is through the roof. I cannot recommend this show enough. It is mainly dialogues though so not 1 hour of non-stop action every episode and there's lots of nudity as well.

I am so confused about this series, the opening credits is awezome, good visuals with good images. The visuals in the series are meh, most characters seem bland and boring to me. It is saying it is a more "realistic" approach to pirates, yet it's trying to be a prequel to Treasure Island. I struggle with finding this series identity, in one way it is not big enough, in trying to hard to be a big. And I love everything about pirates, specially when they get more historical accuracy in it, than these embarrassingly eye-patch-wearing stupid-accents stereotypes they usually are portrayed as.

+MarkFilipAnthony They mix reality with fiction. I don't see anything wrong with that. And they are a bit historically accurate, there is a mixture of characters that are based on real people, and the characters from Treasure Island as well as some historical events that happen. I don't find the characters bland, especially since we get a lot of character building for the main characters. The fact of the matter is, these pirates aren't portrayed like cartooney eye-patch-wearing people with stupid accents. Them mixing reality with ficiton is great for the fact that they can take some liberties in the storyline and maybe give us some unexcpected turns. I actually really love pirates as well and they are portraying them quite accurately. The attacks on ships are realistic to the point that pirates didn't really want to kill people if they didn't have to, but just take the loot. They humanize them more. I don't know, I think they're doing a pretty cool job. Maybe Black Sails can help make a pirate craze and we'll get some more accurate portrayals of pirates in the future ... But for now, I think Black Sails is a pretty cool show about pirates :P

Quinlan but.. why can't they choose? Ether let it be based up on reality as a Treasure Island prequel, OR be historical accurate events with original characters re-living them? It seems so.. stupid, it like "going there" with the realistic, but "not all the way" there. Which just end of feeling silly. it just seems like a series who hasn't a proper identity. It's like putting characters from King Arthur in accurate historical events, like the war of the roses or 100 yr war, or similar, just because he's a known character. It is one thing to have "more realistic version of the famous characters", another thing to "put them in historical events" without any logical reason
