we were lifting silage in the A.I. station in sligo back in 1988 , lads from donegal came down to lift 150 acres with two kidd double chop harvesters and two 121 muir hill tractors driving them , anyway the previous year a calf had died and one of the staff disposed of the calf into the dung pit thinking nothing of it , the dung was spread in the following weeks but the calf was never spotted and the grass grew up around it , fast forward to a lovely july day flying along with the muir hill singing and he hit the calf and put it up through the harvester !!!! we spent about 4 hours trying to cut the bugger out in the sweltering heat and you can just imagine the smell .......... the following year i was drawing in silage for another contractor and he was just after taking delivery of a new holland 339 harvester the all yellow one equipped with electrics the lot brand new out of the box and costing a small fortune back then , she was the talk of the country and a lot of lads came to watch her cutting that firsts day . , he was a s proud as punch of this new harvester , anyway we were lifting about 15 acres for a sheep farmer just outside of sligo and we had put in the last load and john had folded the harvester up and we were getting ready to hit the road when the farmer came out bitching and giving out that he left too much grass on the back sward and to go around again , john was bulling but what could he do he wanted to get paid so he fired up the 8210 and harvester and sent her into the back sward and hit the rim of a car that was lying there and put it up through the lovely new harvester !!!!!! he was like a lunatic and the harvester was in shite , it broke all round it , i never forget the trip up the north that night trying to locate parts and get her going for the next day ...................

The Tom Pemberton and ginger warrior of Ireland!🇮🇪 What's your father's first name btw? A great man to tell a story!! That 24min only seemed like 5min. Very interesting video. Ye should do a chat video like this once a month!👍👌 Picking up stuff with harvesters is a shocking thing to happen to any contractor.

When I heard you talking about no power in 2720 and eventually having to take the tank off,it brought back memories....in mid 1990,s I had a 2640...same trouble,new filters new lift pump.After blowing back through the fuel line to the tank it would be ok for about 15 minutes..So had to bite the bullet and take off the tank and clean it out,not a nice job...Friend of mine had 3690,same trouble as yours,ended up breaking it. The joys of machinery....

Hi, My dad used to cut turf on hire in the 80s, bought a brand new Lamborghini 854dt and herbst sausage machine, first 4wd in the parish, tractor and machine arrived on a Saturday, twin wheels to follow a week later😐, got already, took to the bog, a good crowd of people to see the machine in action for the first time, cut the first row grand, lifted the machine, went to turn around, back wheel broke the ground, down she went for 2 days....Joy's of it. Should have waited 4 da twins to arrive.

@Fordman99. 3 жыл бұрын
We had the same things in silage season 2019 we were a hour and a half from home and I was in a 1983 2720 and the other lad I was with was in a 1988 3650 and we had a 1996 class Jaguar 860 so first day was grand the second day after 2 loads the 2720 stopped with the same problem dirt or rust in the diesel so I everyday I brought a vice grip with me 😂 I had to take the fuel line going from the tank to the filter and blow into the fuel line with my mouth to try and free it up and then have bleed it and this was a regular Accurance and a Friday evening we had a 37 acre field just nearly done it and the throttle cable snapped on me so I ended up bale twine as a throttle cable 😂😂😂 and the back end oil filter clogged up on me from irregular service the same day and a day after all that a stone or something went into the feed roller and made shit of it I could hear a few knifes or something going into the trailer so that was her in shit and we had a second harvester so ever Since then we had no trouble so that’s the joys of drawing silage in this day and age in old machinery
