I have been studying stuff since 2008 to help me survive all kinds of stuff. Basically a man made or natural disasters would use the same skills. So I studied David Canterberry wildernessoutfitters channel....to learn all primitive survival from shelter, tools, and bow drill fire. When the trucks no longer bring food to the stores because the roads are out, Eattheweeds channel...to find all the local weeds to eat and try them out so I can put them on my list. Not all eatable weeds taste good, but many taste better than what you buy in the stores. The Meat Trapper channel...you can trap more meat than you can hunt. Now I am glad I found you to fill in the gaps between primitive fire, wild greens and meat. You teach what other experts don't and fill a void that needed filling. Thank you for what you do for the self-reliant community. We saw how many died waiting on FEMA to to show up after Katrina, that is not going to happen to me...the best non-GMO foods are in the woods anyway!

BlackScoutSurvival You got it, folks need to know what to do after an EMP attack, many don't know or have a plan. So we need to look to folks like you to get through it. None of us are getting out of this world alive, what counts is what we do while we take up space on this planet. You my friend are not a waist of space.God bless you for being there for the less fortunate, everyone needs someone to look to in a disaster, and you are the guy. Keep up the good work!

This is a typical North American strategy. City architecture differs tremendously in Europe, Asia, Middle East, etc. Personally, I'd suggest if you are US American and go to Europe, stay on the tourist roads until you get a feeling of non-American city architecture. Otherwise you'll get lost in the alleys, and the last thing you want when being abroad and in a possibly dangerous situation is to get lost in a labyrinth. Just a little heads up, because if you've ever been to Rome, you'll know what I'm talking about. Thanks for the video, as always.

I'd rather have a silcock key than a button compass. If you've got a map of an urban environment you can figure out direction by street signs very quickly. Being able to get water to drink or clean a wound while on the move would be paramount. If you've got a silcock key in an urban setting, you've got almost unlimited water sources.

After having used one for a long period, I have become suspicious of the GPS system. Driving and especially while flying. You are right on about the use of up-to-date maps.

Google also tried to send me halfway around Toronto using two buses and three subway lines just to go 300 m down the street I was already on, instead of giving me the next bus at the stop where I was standing.

Hey man I love your videos. I think you have quite a bit of information... My only suggestion is that you practice your "lines" prior to each video a little more or use note cards or cue card. Just a suggestion... Yes, I know this particular video is older.

I subscribe to STRATFOR and they have an analyst working for them named Fred Burton. He worked for the state department for twenty years in the diplomatic security world, he's kind of a legend in that world. Anyway, some years ago he clued me into this website called RAIDSonline.com when he was talking about security measures for traveling on business. This site is similar to Google maps but you can set criteria for which types of crimes and how far back you want to know and they will put the icons that symbolize the different crimes over a map instead of a thumb tack. This map is a satellite image of the area so it will give you a great idea of the crime patterns of every area in the city. It's also great when you're shopping for a house or just checking the safety of an area say your kids are going to for the day like a mall or amusement park. This website works with local PD to get the information so it's pretty reliable. You can also sign up for a daily email notifying of crimes within a five mile radius of an address you choose like home or work. They even tell you if there weren't any crimes. Some PDs don't participate but most do and its a serious resource that could keep you alive......

I like how he has to describe cities, apparently for people who have never seen one, even on television. Just go to town once in a while. Leave your basement hideout. Go see a movie or something.

The US cities are based on grid systems. No city is really more than 100years old as you will pull down and build over older buildings. The same is true of the centres of tourists sun/beach towns and "new towns" like Milton Keynes in the UK, and the centre of most African towns...they are simple to navigate. Older cities like in Europe are "onion ring" cities, they have grown from outside original river side city in layers, expanding outwards. The muddled are often rat runs of medieval alleys. Unfortunately, the second world war and modern futuristic planners of the 50s and 60s, plus more modern estates which came houses into every space have came up with some really stupid ideas so you have huge areas with just one road in or out, roads built on a labyrinth style so that I can get lost in my own town. Cul de sacs (dead end roads), footpaths that lead no where and may have been stolen to become part of someone's garden...the moral is if on foot....ignore fences and walls and go through if necessary. In cars stick to main roads, accept that roads may no initially go where you want. To the person saying street signs...I have lived less than 15 miles from the centre of Bristol, the UK 7 largest city, all my life. If I didn't know how to get there from my house I couldn't find a sign for the city for 4 miles, the signs for the airport would take me an hour rather than 20 minutes. There are no signs to hospitals for 10 miles in any direction...
