Chinese Black Sesame Tang Yuan
Tang Yuan is made from glutinous rice flour which gives it a soft and chewy texture. Almost like a sweet rice dumpling. These are filled with a runny black sesame filling which gives it a nice nutty aroma which isn't too sweet.
Once wrapped you can freeze these and keep for up to 3 months. Make sure to separate with baking paper or cling wrap to prevent sticking.
Yield: 32 Tang Yuan

Ingredients used in this video:
300g Glutinous rice flour
170g Boiling water
95g Water
100g Roasted black sesame powder
40g Toasted ground nuts (I have used cashew in the video you can you what you like. For example peanuts or pecans will also work)
100g Caster sugar
75g Melted butter
40g Water (You can add more if you like the filling runny)
2 Cups water
3 Pandan leaf
3 Pieces sliced ginger
2 Tbsp Sugar

Hi, can I use sweet rice and qrind it use it in this recipe? Also I purchase rice flour in small bags with green lettering. Is this the same rice flour with green lettering as the sweet rice flour? I am trying to save money. Buying sweet rice flour in small bags is not smart in the long run Which brand do you suggest I use for cooking porridge or sweets. I make Black Sesame Seed Porridge everyday for breakfast and this gives me loads of calcium. I am trying your recipe out this week. I am a Black Sesame Seed fan. Worldwide people need to learn to eat a healthy breakfast. Your recipes are so nutritious, cute and easy to do. I love the cute faces. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful creations.

When boiling, do we add cold water from the fridge or just normal tap water? And the panda only boil once right unlike the plain one that need 3x boiling? Btw your tang yuan looks yummy😋

Just normal tap water is fine. Panda one also x3 boiling but the water should not come up to rapid boiling or the face will fall off. Thank you so much 🥰

If using sesame seeds no need to wash it, just toast it in a fry pan till fragrant and use a spice grinder to make it very fine
