I disagree strongly, her character has no depth or personality, she just screams and is sometimes a good person, same with the main character Rose, while she does have character development she's just not fun or entertaining to watch, she's just a cold hard bitch, but she's as charismatic as a brick so she doesn't pull it off

I don't think they could've carried all of that before night falls which is the reason they needed to do it all in one go. If you ever held a rifle you would know how heavy they are so even if they took a small crate at a time it would still be a time kill so I didn't think it was that bad of an idea.

Even if they went 2 - 3 on the heavier stuff and I assumed really heavy they'd be done before 10 minutes. Either way trying the whole thing uphill for the same reasons you mentioned makes even less sense. Let's not give excuses for bad writing, it's why they keep ruining shows.

nope in a world where numbers, preservation of ammo, reliable vehicles, and silence matter the most. the season starts off with a couple immediately killing potential help and making him a growler, wasting ammo, and wrecking their new vehicle. it's the main theme that humans aren't really the monsters like other zombie films lean towards but more so that they are supremely self destructive. we also see this with the final scene inside and outside the hanger. even with a safe end in sight they will hastily destroy it all.

Seems like a lot of people missed the mark on this show, its not meant to pander to what you think should happen. The gun fighting was amazingly well done compared to other zombie movies and shows, the world is dark and unforgiving. No one is safe, there arent any "main characters" its just people trying to survive. The show is about the outbreak, if you watch shows for one or 2 specific character this isnt for you.

@@Analysta654 to each their own, personally i can't stand when characters survive due to plot armor over and over, dawn of the dead 2004 is one of my favorite zombie movies of all time and everyone dies at the end of that movie too. The zombies in black summer feel like the true enemy and thats how it should be. I personally enjoyed every minute of both season 1 and 2.

People hate this series because they don't understand what realistic zombie apocalypse would be, they just want TWD type of show where everybody is caring and hugging each other and zombies are slow and dumb. This show represents how a zombie apocalypse would be everyone on their own, don't trust no one, survival of the fittest. To give you a hint look how people acted for just a toilet pepper during COVID crisis. I loved this season and hope for season 3 with new characters.

I don’t know how many times I got viscerally frustrated at people firing off whole clips at center mass or air in BS. One thing I will give BS is the zombies are runners and seem to have some semblance of intelligence, making them harder to kill. All the more reason to save ammo.

This show has it's problems but I do love how they make a small group of zombies or even one or two a real threat, with them relentlessly chasing survivors without a breather and survivors realistically struggling to get headshots when panicked and being chased.

I don’t like scary shows and especially not since I live by myself, but I watched this season in two days and the entire time I’ve been so invested in it. I initially thought I was going to watch a show about a drug dealer and I didn’t understood the first zombie, so I was confused and scared. But then it became very interesting so I kept on watching. That scene when Anna/Hannah was watching the door; my god, I had to fast forward that part with my eyes closed! And that last scene with Lance/Mence fighting off all of these zombies by himself. I was jumping up and down from anxiety and my dog was so worried about me. I am so happy Sun made it to the plane. She was my favourite because in real life I’d be like her character.

SPOILER WARNING⚠️ The one thing I hate, is when they kill characters for no reason at all, when they killed lance in the first 5 mins, I was just pissed cause why even bother having him come back to season 2. Shoulda died in season 1 at that point, I understand why they did it, it was to show the viewer that the people are more dangerous, then they decide to kill Spears, his character would never commit suicide ( it’s still suicide cause he asked to be killed ) And the thing is, there was definitely medical supplies in the lodge, the bullet went clean through, other than infection there wasn’t life threatening, if he got rid of the infection he’d survive, and then the black guy who brought them to the lodge, how tf did he end up with the guy in the red jacket?? I love zombie movies and shows, but there is just to much to follow. And no answers. I understand it’s supposed to show realism but it’s a tv show, not real life. I stopped enjoying twd TelTel series cause they literally killed off every, single person and it was a new group each season. Idk the show was alright in my opinion, I’d watch season 3 for sure, but I’m not hyped for it.

They brought Lance back for a brief appearance because there’d inevitably be (and I’m sure there already were) questions about what happens to him, since in season 1 he splits off from the main cast. So they wanted to give him some ending seeing as it’d be very unlikely for him to reunite with the main cast and their narrative. As for Spears I was pretty sad to see him go and I also wondered if they could’ve tried to patch him up but I suppose the infection had a long time to take effect. I still think he got a great resolution.

Spears segment was called rest. Ya physically they could have saved him with supplies but he even said he was looking for a place to rest (die) and he found it. He resolved things with “bygones” and was done with that world. Rose to me would never off herself and there she was about to cuz a broken leg lol

Major plot holes, characters have no brains, the "villians" have no motivations. The zombies were never explained, or why there is a virus. My brother and I both independently couldn't believe they would push that crate without first emptying it. It was literally the first thing we thought of, and it took us a little out of it. My main criticism is that there was not enough character goal dialogue. Favorite Zombie show: Dawn of the Dead 2004. I hope the move goes swimmingly. Take Care. :)

Episode 4 was the highlight for me the action cinema photography and acting was fantastic. On the other note there were a few episodes that didn't need to be thereand felt like a waste. The spears episode just slowed the whole thing down and I also felt the Korean girl Sun was more of a badass last season. She didn't try to escape and was too passive compared to last season. Episode 7 screamed The Shinning with the Lodge and a the snow. The girl quietly screaming in front of her reflection looked like madness descending..

They shouldve for season 2 started off at the stadium then had a helicopter pick them up then something happens which is why they all got stuck in that little hick town or w.e.. Showed what happened why people were fighting.. Then lead up to season 3 with all this.. SPOILER: I was disappointed to see Lance die right in episode 1, personally he was my favorite person out the main characters. I was also upset how his death was. How the 2 people wanted to steal his car but the guy shoots him instead(which ends up killing him and he turns into a zombie). It was uncalled for to say the least. I think the more interesting part is when he gets zombified and he starts chasing some guy and losing him, as he wonders around he looks in the window seeing himself and somewhat its that he still has some humanity inside him (this is just a theory that he might be not some mindless zombie). He was probably the most interesting character & the most humble, sucks to see him die off episode 1 of the second season.

This movie series brings a different perspective to the zombie genre but the few complaints i have are 1: some characters in the movie is extremely annoying. 2: if you're not familiar with the half-ass backward story telling aspect, you'll get lost real fast. 3: most of the individual scenes are short and indirect. Often, it will leave you scratching your head and go, "what the f*ck did I just watched..or what the f*ck was that about"?

This is the one of the best zombie storyline I've ever watched. Sadly, Spears is my favorite character because of his pride and compassion, why did they kill him? it also bugged me how freequently people wanted to kill other people in this series. it seems super impractical to just shoot people when that means they will instantly rise up as a zombie and be a much more imposing threat...especially when they usually do this at melee range. they often threaten to shoot people, try to strangle people, stabbings, etc....and in my mind my thought is....that's basically suicide unless you kill them properly.

Mance was the true hero this season he must come back, showed all the qualities of a hero, compassion, empathy, and forgiveness (bygones be bygones) all without NO BACKSTORY!! No one and I mean NO ONE (since Spears and William is gone) in the story would distract the zombies for Sung (He didnt even know who was on the plane) to get away and he still beast moded all of them!!!! he saved this season hands down F Rose.

I love that Black Summer gets immediately to the action and doesn't make you wait for it. Its style and the way it's written is more reflective of how the world would ACTUALLY be in a zombie apocalypse, compared to the traditional hollywood approach. Some scenes are so intense and relentless, it's exhausting to watch, but in a good way! I also like that some scenes follow random side-characters for a good 10 minutes and you get to see how they became a zombie - to me that's more interesting than character development (sometimes). Black Summer is by far my favourite zombie TV show or movie.

This season had zero character developement and had no concrete plot story... there is no plot at all, the show just focus on the concept of how many betraying it takes in order to survive and nothing else, characters didn't had any meaningful interaction and they barely talked to each other. Even though both seasons were bad, I personally prefer first season because it had more interesting scenes and also because of William Vélez and Sun (korean girl) interactions with the group and the team work.

I think season 1 had the best individual episodes (like Alone and the one set in the school). But I found season 2 more intense and atmospheric - its got some great moments too such as the shootout at the house and Anna creeping around the lodge.

This series is just confusing. People make stupid decisions over and over. People are all violent because everyone just is as it's in an apocalypse. Why is the person who speaks in Korean not subtitled in English. Why is it some people turn into zombies straight away and some don't. People act like they are an NPC in a Bethesda game...

I think there are two reasons for why Sun, Korean girl isn''t subtitled because, by the end of the season 2 we should understand that her character works as a metaphor. A metaphor for goodness and lack of selfishness. She is showed along the episodes looking to bring people together and even self sacrificing, also avoiding to inflict any harm. The series is not perfect, nothing and no one is perfect around us (just a reminder) but, as they very clearly stated in trailer, is about what makes us human, at the core, our decisions in harsh times. (And second reason is that IRL we wouldn't understand each other in the condition that not everyone on earth speaks English). Why you might think people are making stupid decisions over and over, as you said, it shows realistically the human nature, not scripted, taken by surprise and unprepared. Some of us might react as professionals in abstract zombie apocalypse situation, but most of us would react as it is, as unprepared human beings letting the instinct guide us, and this despite our differences as gender, race, age, level of education, it just shows coming to that we are all the same and what will make a difference is the intention to do good, the ability to spot the bluffer, and avoiding inflicting harm in our fellow people. At least, this is what I got from the two seasons. As much I am total fan of zombie movies, and despite zombies running all around as a permanency motif, this show was the least of them. It was just about human nature in some certain circumstances with certain people that cross each others lives in a "what if" scenario.

This show works entirely on the assumption that 85-95% of normal people are actually sociopathic murderers. I doubt that is the case. "Survival" does not mean just murdering everyone you meet. Rose is a crazy person, her daughter is borderline. Nobody in this entire show except maybe Sun has a single redeeming quality.

I loved that they dared to tell the story out of order, and usually it worked really well in building suspense. However, sometimes knowing the end of a scene beforehand took away some of the tension. An example is when Anna shoots Spears (Little Jimmy). First we are shown the aftermath, and in the next scene they jump back 2 minutes to explain what happened. Then they have this long take where Anna has to consider wether or not to pull the trigger. It's a big character descision for her, but the audience already knows what she's going to do, so the scene ends up feeling a bit pointless. In general, I loved that they dared to be creative and different in the way they told the story, and in the way they filmed with a lot of One-shot takes, but at a certain point it became too much of a good thing.

Cold War is arguably the best episode of Black Summer. That one take shootout was fuckin nuts. The only other long take that matches it is a John Woo movie called Hardboiled. And that one take scene from season 1 of True Detective. Mance's one shot battle with zombies was also fuckin epic!!.

My main issues with the show even though I like the series is 1) People have not learned to aim for the head on zombies when shooting. They often go for body shots and can’t take zombies out after having survived for months now. I gave season 1 a pass on people missing shots. People were new to the apocalypse so i couldn’t be to hard on em. This season they really had no excuse lol. 2) 4-6 survivors shooting at 1 zombie and none of them hitting the head is also frustrating to watch. Waste of ammo only need to have 1 person fire. Outside of that I like what they’ve done.

Honestly after being let down by the 1st season I finally took a chance last night out of sheer boredom to watch the second season of Black Summer & I must say it was well worth it if you're into horror apocalyptic style shows, Rose was overly aggressive & protective & while I understood why especially when they were in the mansion, it nearly cost the pair once they left the place with Boone. It was a tad bit frustrating to see Ooh Sun who's such a great character, be tied up & dragged for most of the 2nd season & my man's Mance shocked the holy hell out of me with his sheer will power to fight & survive towards the end of this season finale. The writers did a much better job this time around.

Season 2 confused me. People became zombies automatically after being shot as well. How does that work? I understand being bitten but becoming a zombie after being shot lacks logic to me. Especially, when folks are stabbing and shooting and blood clearly gets in their eyes and mouths and on their skin but they don't become zombies due to these actions. Help me make sense of it?

I thought they nailed it again, in 2nd season. I actually liked the random stories rather than a main goal story because it leaves you with a note of - anything can happen to anyone. Plus, it offers an endless scenario of events. And rather than bashing us with hundreds of zombies, you rather get one crazy mother fucker! Or three at most. It’s enough really to completely disband a large group. Plus of course dealing with humans, which I think are the true monsters of this world. Anyway, LOVED the show.

It's better than TWD period, every season. Because Black Summer is not about the bullshit. When you're trying to survive EVERYTHING is about that. No Shane and Lori drama behind Rick's back, no super hero characters like Darryl and Carol. No cartoon villains like Neegan. Just raw, scared, paranoid, regular people who will eventually turn on their own crew if they think that will give them a better chance of survival. That and THESE zombies are nothing to play with. Black Summer does it right.

Black summer, although not perfect, is a work of art. Season two is good I really enjoyed it. The pacing and action is amazing, zombies are amazing. Camera work and cinematography amazing. Very well done. People hating on it don’t know art when they see it..
