I know this video is almost two years old, but I'm going to leave a comment anyway. I love this mod! The keep is tasteful very nicely designed. At first I was put off by the emptiness of the place, and wishing it had more people. But as the tour went on I started generating an idea in my mind to explain why the place is empty: There was once a family of knights who owned this keep and who ventured forth from it to help maintain law and order in Skyrim. They were much loved, honored and respected by the people, and their keep was a merry place full of light and joy. But then, the latest family heir began to turn to the dark daedric powers, and in his love for power and self-glory, he turned the keep into a place of pain and suffering for many. As a result, he was cursed by the Divines to live alone in his keep, and to experience in his own body and soul the sufferings he had so carelessly inflicted upon others. The thorny theme throughout the keep are a representation of the "ethereal thorns" that afflict him. He was told that his soul would suffer from these thorns until he had redeemed himself and restored glory to his family name by serving and helping the people of Skyrim. I thought of the armor he would wear, and the "King Crusade armor" mod seems perfect for this. The helmet has what looks like a crown of thorns, and it has a dark "nasgul" feel to it. The knight could also bear an affliction, like not being able to regenerate health or magicka (or maybe both?) and has to constantly use alchemical potions to renew himself and to relieve his sufferings. He could also have the use of "dark magicks" to use against his enemies. His calling would be to redeem himself and his family name by helping to rid Skyrim of dark powers, such as the Dragon Priests, necromancers, etc., and to avoid giving in to his lust to use their magicks for himself. The idea is not fully formed in my mind yet, but I feel like it could become a fun playthrough! It's amazing how a mod can come along that starts to generate whole stories in the imagination! This house mod feels like one of those!

Okay, let's see: crenelation with adequate merlons (that have arrow slits!), machicolations (the gaps in the floor of the crenelation) , the portcullis however is a missed opportunity there as the first gatehouse could use another one to trap the enemy - then the murder holes make sense. But I give the author a thumbs up that he thought about that. The battlements etc. of the vanilla castles are... problematic. And that's a euphemism. Yes, it looks like a Dornröschen-castle. Honestly, I prefer the German title Dornröschen (Little briar rose) over the "Sleeping beauty". Also, that's her actual name and not Aurora. Who came up with that? (still a missed opportunity in the series Once upon a time, that they didn't make Aurora and Mulan a couple - stupid Disney and their "family friendliness") . I love the woodwork of the place - furniture, support beams and staircases just look great. If my eyes weren't fooling me the prisoners have at least reading material in their cells.

Lol, that giggle at 3:46 tho. Kinda morbid, but hey, at least that's another thing to like about this lovely house, am I right? Murder holes... Your channel is now my go-to when I'm looking for a house mod in Skyrim, and this one is one of those that I'm about to try, so thank you! I feel like this one can be made a bit more alive with Socko's Guild Started mod.

I got instant Minas Morgul vibes from this, gonna make the Witch-King for the next playthrough! Garrison and servants would be nice, with the option of being normal or vampiric but for what it is, I love it!

Yet another thing I'd miss out on simply for being a castle and in default worldspace, but this is REALLY pretty! And as a kid, I really liked Briar Rose/Sleeping Beauty for some reason. I love all the custom assets, one of my favourite things in these house mods. But lol, the file size is very big! I know it's a lot to do with these custom assets, though, although when you consider that vanilla Skyrim with all the expansions and everything is just over 12GB, it might make you wish mod authors compressed their assets more. Or maybe it's just me considering that my Skyrim folder at this point may be well over 100GB.

The most historically accurate castle in the game. comepelte with murderholes, MACHINATIONS!!!! The author who did this mod made it for a job interview or something. Mr only gripes: needs some guards , blacksmith and alchemist, though I can do without the alchemist , a blacksmith would do better as someone to buy and sell stuff.... This type of castle mod you are supposed to let your followers to guard the place when they are here.. 5 out of 5 greatswords

the author of this mod also has an armor mod called blackened steel , and that armor set is one of the most historically accurate sets of armor on the nexus. Shadiversity would approve of Black thorn keep... and the armor set too

Is this, even slightly, inspired by Beauty and the Beast? Because the attic has a rose, or at least, a black rose on a circular table under a glass dome and there is a shaft of sunlight coming down onto it, so, is that a reference for it's inspiration, perhaps? I saw that yesterday when it was downloaded and I thought, "Oh, yes, where have I seen that before?" I'm just saying, it's very possible that eagle-eyed viewers might see that and have noticed the similarities or something and put two and two together. Still, it doesn't change the fact it's still a beautiful place and if it was Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions-compatible, we'd have the 2nd perfect home for the Dragonborn, after Clockwork, but, I prefer this place now more, because you just feel more special. That's just my opinion and all, really.
