The only issue with that is, Jeremy IS making millions and won't be bothered to listen to criticism. If you have good constructive criticism, it'll fall on deaf ears because it is still successful. In my opinion, I think Jeremy told Alberto Morillas ideas he wanted in a fragrance and when Alberto completed his work, Jeremy was probably afraid to say no to him and be assertive.

exclusive....... that's the point you don't want a good fragrance to become tired from over use the solution charge more so less people have it.
@balazs72354 жыл бұрын
@@jsvalina3503 But frankly you are missing the point. Or Jeremy does... With what he established his brand on is, a specific scent for a specific occasion. Office- A work scent that should work on a daily basis in every work situation. We all work, and we can all appreciate a nice work scent. Date- A scent that is specific to dates, meet ups or clubbing. It is something we at least for a little while do. Black Tie- It is a bit more specific, but if one goes to an interview or to something very official, perhaps a business meeting. It is appreciated that one has a fragrance “custom” made for this occasion. In everyone’s life there is a certain time when this would be needed. What these fragrances have in common (not mentioning all the other ones but should be included as well) is a very wide audience. Including EVERYONE. His aim is to have everyone wear his fragrances due to how specific they are for their specific occasion. And that everyone includes the general public who find fragrances that cost upwards of $100 stupid and wasteful. That means even if Jeremy’s fragrances were $100 each. They are so specific that ideally you should buy the rest to fit the occasion perfectly, thus leaning into the $500 territory. While your everyday man wouldn’t mind wearing that same fragrance no matter the occasion. In terms of marketimg you have to take into account these aspects. Jeremy has to think that one would buy all of his fragrances because they are very good in different situations. Here comes the problem that prevents the brand to reach the general public no matter how genius the idea is. Price. As mentioned in the video, non-Jeremy fans, when they see the price, will instantly close that window on their screen, and proceed to buy Dior Sauvage. Because that will in fact satisfy every occasion and is waaay cheaper. With what the brand tries to be, it is very hypocritical to charge such high prices when the brands focus it aiming to reach a wide audience and be widely available. The other problem with Fragrance One is the fact that they try to act niche, but will cheapen the brand with heavy discounts and a very cheaply made and looking bottle. It is unacceptable to sell a fragrance that costs $120 and $400 in the same bottle design with the same cheap materials. It’s the juice what counts and what you pay for. But we buy with our eyes. If the bottle looks nice and sophisticated, you best believe I am buying it for $400 if I like it that much. However, if the bottle looks very cheap and still charges the same $400 price tag, I will not even give it a smells and just skip over. He should have different bottles design for different fragrances. Because you are not just buying another one of the same fragrances. You are buying another fragrance from the same house that is triple the price. If the prices were in the same range, I would be more okay with it. Though, this is not good enough. I am not ranting on Jeremy, because I like him and what he’s doing! But he should realize the potential he would reach had he made the fragrances more affordable and more aimed on what it is actually trying to be. Accessible by the public to accomodate everyone, anywhere.

There's not a single thing you said in this video that I could disagree with. Unfortunately I did see the video in which Jeremy's justification for such a high price point was, and I quote, "because I can". It is indeed frustrating because it's a solid line if you're only taking into account the scent itself. George, your absolutely right $400 for a fragrance is absurd. I don't give a damn if it's Creed, Roja Dove, or Amouage $400 is insane. I have Green Irish Tweed, Viking, Journey Man, Scandal, Beau de Jour, and Vanille Fatal. The most I've paid for any of them is $185 for Viking. I love Jeremy, he's the one who got me into fragrances but I don't have any of his stuff because they're too damn high. The most I'll pay for a fragrance is $200 if it's quality. Lalique is up there in quality with all the niche heavy hitters and they don't charge the prices Jeremy is asking for. Mr Smelly's fragrance is a niche brand and higher quality than anything Jeremy has put out and it's $110 and it should be more.

Amazing how many of the points he made can be put towards many areas of life in general. Politics and Sports etc etc. living in an echo chamber where your friends are the only people you listen to can be the worst thing ever to happen to you.

The problem is that Jeremy markets FragranceOne prices like an established high end luxury house. To me FragranceOne is an indie house and the prices shouldnt pass the 150 euros range, especially considering the bottles come into a small white tester-like packaging. Why would a consumer spend 329 euros on Black Tie instead of any offering from example PDM, Fragrance Du Bois, Amouage, Roja, MFK, Xerjoff, Nishane, etc Personally i would prefer to buy something from Roja's parfum colgone line and still have some money left in my pocket.

If he was smart, he would keep the Fragrance One brand, drop the prices(with no bs discounts) and at the same time open up a new niche upper end brand that he can use as his “private line” and charge 350 a pop no discounts. He would double his business and have an easy to understand approachable smelling line, then a more daring creative line. That’s what I would do for sure.

This was a damn near perfect review of Fragrance One. Total sense... Clear and precise. I have thought the same thing. It’s pitched as this very straightforward, no nonsense, no fuss, trust me, very practical, almost utilitarian branding... BUT... At a niche price. Very confusing. I’ve often thought, even for $120-ish a bottle, that would be ok. But these prices are embarrassing... And I enjoy Jeremy and credit him to getting me back into fragrances... But would never touch these fragrances at these price points.

I really enjoyed your stance and completely agree with you. You've hit the nail on the head! It's absolutely true that prestigious brands do not throw discounts and bogos around...I've never seen Chanel go on sale; it isn't even part of the 15% off sale that lux departments stores sometimes run. The clash is real.

When Jeremy increased the price of Office One before he made it available, I stopped watching his channel. I considered everything else he has done as an insult to us consumers. You have done an amazing job in pointing out the huge problem with his marketing of his products and their identity. However, I think that the deeper problem here is his ego. He thinks that because he deserves it, that is enough to justify the price.

Extremely fair and great criticism! I really hope Jeremy learns from this and fixes his brand, I dont think he realizes that he causes this hate on himself by doing these things. If he just makes a solid product for a solid price, he would be much more well received.

This was an awesome review George - thank you. I’m curious what your thoughts are on where Jeremy can go from here - if he slashed his prices to designer level say $120 for 100ml, wouldn’t this sort-of destroy his credibility, and everyone who has already bought from Fragrance One would feel ripped off? Do you think there is a ‘way out’ for the brand where the pricing is restructured without disintegrating the brand itself?
@donquique14 жыл бұрын
I would do it gradually. Heck, a good MBA would test different prices and see what works. If 400 dollars a bottle extracts the most profit then so be it. But I doubt it.
@pranavmehta44234 жыл бұрын
He can release a flanker with the minutest change with the new price and discontinue the existing ones. This could be something as simple as simply sticking a EdT label on the exact same bottle and be done with it. That way the old customer won't feel being ripped off.
@FPSakari4 жыл бұрын
@@pranavmehta4423 like "Office 2021". It would be bit different and the old office becomes discontinued. Old office would be more like collectors fragrance then.

Great video as always. The big problem for me is that the damage has already been done. If he slashes the price now, everyone who has bought it at the higher price will feel cheated and likely not repurchase at the lower price, plus it makes him look greedy if he's making a profit selling at £100 when it was sold for £400. Pricing is so important to get right, he either needs to rebrand entirely or come out with a much more affordable budget line. Haig whisky did a similar thing with Club and Clubman. They released a cheap grain whisky, Haig Club, in a flashy blue bottle with David Beckham endorsement and charged £45 for it. They couldn't sell it as it was a cheap grain whisky for £45, so released Haig Clubman, pretty much the same whisky, in a less flashy blue bottle, without the Beckham endorsement and charged £25, much closer to its true worth.

It was really worth the patience with this particular review and definitely exceeded my expectations. Great work!! I'd also like to add another thing which is the names of every fragrance. I kinda feel like, giving names like office or date or (especially) black tie works like a some kind of restriction to the simple buyer and thoroughly as a negative aspect (at least for me). As for everything else, you covered precisely what i had in mind for jeremy's brand. Good job, keep it up!

This is, hands down, the best take on a fragrance by this house! I also cannot get over the constant sales and discounts that cheapen the brand and therefore I have never felt the need to test any of his fragrances. Well, we'll see whether this can work for him in the long run.

On the ''this perfume reminds me of'' section,people have voted for Pokemon air-val,Dora the explorer for women,Fairyland bloop emoji,Playful monkey emoji. LOL I get it,those comparisons are mocking jeremy's persona and not the fragrance itself;but with a price like this,i can't really fault them xD

Massive respect for this honest and seemingly heartfelt review. I decided to not even sample any of his fragrances based on the price and after a very brief conversation i had with him in the comment section once where he tried to justify the price by likening it to a Picasso and said anyone criticizing his fragrance was insulting Alberto Morrilas personally. I don't have anything against Daniel (Jeremy) personally because i don't know him and i wouldn't wish him any bad fortune but either he believes his own hype, which means he may not be playing with a full deck or he knows his fans are stupid and will shell out a relative fortune for strong mall fragrances. I'm not going to say which i believe but i hope the first one is the truth.
@Civo_694 жыл бұрын
The prices are a reflection of a very good understanding on Marketing and product placement. Going to the PS5 analogy, people were paying 1000€ for one on Xmas eve. Jeremy is surfing the hype and as time goes all these prices will decrease. Like other brands, that have new releases at a high price after 1 year you can get them at discounts for 50%off. Right now Jeremy has already bundles of 100€ for 2x 50ml. That's pretty OK for a good designer fragrance, cheaper than any niche, which it is not.
@sanjayshah40722 жыл бұрын
Nice video. One has to build the reputation by creating high quality fragrances consistently over the time and then start demanding premium. In fact after you build image of your brand through consistently giving high quality price will not be a barrier. People will pay.

Here's another perspective on the current marketing strategy that I hope will help Fragrance One. I like the brand and want to see it succeed. Originally, Jeremy said he planned to release one new fragrance per year. Then, that strategy changed and that's OK. But, now he has enough products available that I recommend returning to the original strategy of launching one new fragrance per year. Some of the benefits of releasing one new fragrance per year: * You can build suspense and anticipation around the release date and thus create an online "event" * You can spend your time and marketing dollars building the audience for the new fragrance * Allows for a "cleaner" approach to future product development for each fragrance as you can build stages into each product's life cycle * You can slowly increase your price point and perceived brand value with each new fragrance release Here's a few additional thoughts that I hope will help: * Office for Men is clearly geared towards a large audience and therefore should be priced lower for mass appeal. It is a nice fragrance and given the marketing surrounding it's release it will sell well at $100 US per bottle. * Black Tie is a nice fragrance. If you want it to be a luxury purchase then it should have a limited release (e.g. only 1,000 bottles world-wide and once it's gone, it's gone). It will need the comparable packaging. A special box, a really nice bottle, and a really nice cap. Since Black Tie is special and he wants it to be perceived to be in the same league as Roja, Maison France Kurkdjian, Royal Crown, Creed, Xerjoff or Channel then it has to look, smell and "feel" the same as those fragrances. Since it's special and should be perceived as rare, it should have a dedicated website where the new bottle can be featured and showcased to help build the perceived value of this fragrance. Also, at it's current price point I recommend no synthetics. And whatever the new bottle looks like it should be heavy. I envision it feeling like a heavy glass blown ashtray (very thick glass) and a magnetic cap. At this price point it has to "feel" expensive and rare every time you pick it up. Sensory perception is highly importnat when dealing with a luxury purchase. * Black Tie's new packaging should have a hand-written "Thank You" note (it can be mass produced but it must look and feel handwritten). It should also have a nice "thick" card that accompanies it listing all of the notes and contains the copy that describes the "journey" and reasons for purchasing Black Tie. Must include some catchy advertising copy that says something like, "...Congratulations on expressing the the royal gentlemen that is inside of you..." - that was off the top of my head but you get the point. It's early in the company's life cycle and there's plenty of time to fix the branding issues you raise. Thank you again for sharing your honest thoughts on this fragrance.
