Going to the forest alone is kinda scary to me, so your videos really make my day. Next time I'm gonna show black trumpets to my parents and see their reaction. I did the same with scarletina boletes and now my family love finding them. Thank you Luke for educating in such a relaxing way.

I really like all videos about mushrooms hunters, because in Indonesia I don't know much more variety of fungus such a straw mushroom, oyster mushroom, and western mushroom. I ever been seeing parasol, but here it isn't edible fungus. Thanks alot for sharing to us. No matter it's just a dream for me, but i really enjoyed your vlog. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I'm so jealous of all the variety that you have in your forests! I have almost nothing here in the SE Virginia (mostly) pine forest.

Helo, i enjoy watching you hunting mushroom, and i want so bad to hunt aswel but i am not lucky to find a place for mushroom, where do you locate them,
@LukesMushrooms2 жыл бұрын
Locating is just part of the success, timing is also very important. You need to catch good season time and have some knowledge and experience to know where to search. A good starter point is to study books about mushrooms and trees.

I absolutely love your videos, i had no idea trumpets grow so late in the season... How cold does it get in November in Czechia/ Slovakia?
@LukesMushrooms Жыл бұрын
Thank you. It may vary - sometimes it can drop under 0°C, sometimes it can be over 15°C. I don't remember well what weather was back then in this video, but in general mushrooms can grow well if it's not freezing yet.

Try to describe the smell of the black trumpets
@LukesMushrooms2 жыл бұрын
Difficuly to describe the smell when they are raw, but after dehydrating I would say it's a "mushroom" smell similar to other dried mushrooms :) That's the best answer I can provide at the moment. Can you describe it?
@randym89632 жыл бұрын
@@LukesMushrooms ha ha I know its hard.. lets just say they are fragrant. As a food its a very appealing smell... fresh, flowery.

Have you ever noticed mycelium under the rocks? Is it coincidence the black trumpets are near rocks?
@LukesMushrooms2 жыл бұрын
Hard to say, but I found them also at places with no rocks nearby.
@randym89632 жыл бұрын
You will notice the mycelium under rocks and other debris because it holds moisture during the drier times. That's pretty much like that with many fungi. Sometimes you can even see it on the surface of the duff/ground which more often than not leads you to the fruiting body. Matsutake hunters will often use this technique.

They have symbiotic relationship with certain trees and plants… That’s why they can’t be cultivated they are only found forging in the forest.

This mushroom resembles a flower... looks interesting but if you don't know anything about mushrooms you might ignore it... thinking it's poisonous
