I own both versions after initially buying the BB58 blue back in late 2021. Whilst identical in specs, they do have very different characters with the black having a warmer vintage vibe reminiscent of the earlier Rolex Subs. The blue definitely has a more fresh and sporty aesthetic which satisfies my love of blue dial divers. I still can't decide which I prefer and simply enjoy both in rotation with my other watches.

great REVIEW!!! most reviews never talk about the different lighting conditions… you can be suprised once leaving the store in different settings… or equally suprised how some don’t do well in different light settings

They are both beautiful watches. I tried on both and got the black/gilt. It has warm vintage vibes and reminds me of 4 digit Tudor and Rolex Submariners from the late 1950's. The blue is fresh and clean and more modern in appearance. Can't go wrong with either color, it is really personal preference.

I have the blue and was faced with the same dilemma. Here is my take.. the blue feels less (a lot less) "vintage" and more modern vs. the black one. This is not bad or good, just an overall feel. So, depending on what you are going for will make a difference. For me, I wanted something that did not already look too dated so the blue was an easy choice. The blue also pops a bit more in day to day life. When I wear black, the dial adds nice color. When I wear blue or white, it matches perfect. When I wear grey / tan again, it goes perfect. So, it's extremely versatile while at the same time offering a splash of color and interest over the black one, that tends to be more "serious" and formal feeling. Now, we have the new 54 that was released. Hoenstly, I am GLAD I have the blue 58,, LOL otherwise I would be selling it for the 54! That said, I do want the 54 and LOVE the black and gilt this time around, but only because its cleaner with white markings on the bezel and no red pip. I think the blue 58 and a new 54 would be a killer combo!
