If you lay them flat out in the sun, one layer thick to dry once dry you can put them in the chicken wire and they will not mold or mildew

I tried that and it didn't work. Too high of humidity.

This year 2023, I stepped on the walnut hulls then pressure washed the shells. Next year I'm going to use an old washing machine and recycle the water unit they are clean enough and then use a cycle of fresh water.

My Uncle in Kasota, had a bunch of those trees HUGE. He was saving them for wood working.

The nuts are more important than the wood is my view.

Have you considered making a tincture from the hull? It's antiparasitic and also a source of iodine.

No. I eat the kernels and compost the husks for the garden. Plenty of iodine in my soil now to grow iodine rich food.
