Also also: Hawkeye did NOT kill Natasha he tried to kill *himself* (as she did) but she managed to beat him to it bcs of the family thing and she was working for him getting it back while wiping all the rest of red from her ledger, so to speak. All that fight on Voromir was about stopping the other to jump off the cliff. He hung on to her but she snatched herself from his last grip. It was heartwrenching to see for one who didn't want to see any of them go!😱😢😭

The big thing is that no one has said the he killed her. The statement was that he was responsible for her death. Obviously disagree, but it's a whole different argument. Saying "He didn't kill her" is an argument against something that wasn't said, not an argument against what was said.
@cristonsloan
@cristonsloan Жыл бұрын
@@Logan_Baron 29:55 It was very specifically said right here. "He did but he didn't. He did but he didn't". Half of that repeated statement says that he did. And she even asks prior to saying that how we explain it to those who think that he did, reiterating the fact that some think he killed her. Those crazy feminists (not referring to Ashleigh here, of course) who obstinately choose to insist that he did, despite the obvious evidence in the scene itself that he did not (the film-makers specifically did the insert shot where you see her plant her feet against the rock and launch backwards, wrenching herself out of his grip, to make this fact very plainly obvious) can’t stand the fact that she made that sacrifice, because unselfishly giving up your own life for the good of others does not align with their deluded definition of female empowerment, which is that a woman has to kick ass at all times and in all situations dominate men and come out on top. Their hate-fueled minds can’t understand the concept of true greatness coming from self-sacrifice for the benefit of others and that is why they detest and, consequently, deliberately distort that scene.

Hawkeye in no way whatsoever killed Natasha. He did all he could possibly do to save her and sacrifice himself instead. He didn't let her go at the end. The film-makers specifically did the insert shot where you see her plant her feet against the rock and launch backwards, wrenching herself out of his grip, to make this fact very plainly obvious. Her death for the greater good was entirely her own choice and a deliberate sacrifice. That is what makes her end just as meaningful and admirable as Tony’s.

There's a movie from 1987 with the same title which you have starring Debra Winger as an FBI agent out to capture a black widow who marries wealthy men then arranges “accidents” to inherit their money played by Theresa Russell. You’d love it. Debra was also in “Terms of Endearment” with Shirley McClain about a contentious mother & daughter relationship. Also stars Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito & John Lithgow. It won Best Picture Oscar while McClain & Nicholson won an Oscar for best actor…Winger & Lithgow nominated for best actress & supporting actor. Make sure you have tissues for that one. Other films Winger was in was “An Officer & a Gentleman” opposite Richard Gere, “Legal Eagles” opposite Robert Redford & Daryl Hannah (mermaid in Splash), “Leap of Faith” opposite Steve Martin & “Urban Cowboy” opposite John Travolta. Debra was a much sought after actress in the 80s & early 90s

I was hoping someone would answer that question. For those who don't want to research it, the very short version is that Perlmutter was in charge of Marvel movies before Kevin Feige. He didn't like the female characters, and he prevented any of them from having standalone movies like this one.

When it's time to watch the series, you might want to do it like Natalie Gold does with shows over on her channel. She does 2-3 seperate videos for each season of a show, and will cover a block of 3 episodes for each youtube video. By doing that she does more editing out of content for each episode, so that the youtube video isn't so long. Plus that adds incentive for people to sub to the Patreon to get more reaction for each episode. Just a suggestion. :)

Funny you should mention it being strange that we hadn't gotten a Black Widow movie until this one came out. In fact a lot of people were asking for a Black Widow movie after the first Avengers movie was released, but the head of Marvel Entertainment, Ike Perlmutter, is a bit of a chauvinist/sexist and had the final say about the movies produced by Marvel Studios, including what story lines to pursue and what characters to focus on. He didn't believe that anyone would want to watch a female-led superhero movie. Years later Disney decided to cut out the middle man, meaning Kevin Feige was given full authority over any story line and character decisions, allowing him to go over Perlmutter's head and directly to Disney. This opened up the possibilities for more women-led movies and shows.

Also, don’t forget to watch both of the Venom movies. They take place in their own universe separate from the MCU and the X-Men, but they are also important for a future movie that you will get to eventually 😜 I am sure “Bleeding Green” aka Jon will make sure you don’t skip them 😁

If there is one aspect I really appreciate in this movie is how despite how most may feel about Red Guardian seeing him us "unkept" and a slob, Melina's character is quite taken by him, and they allowed her to be somewhat "horny" towards his advances, something that I have seen in reality and still can't figure out at times, but rarely if ever see it in real life where women can be just as aroused as men at the thought of others who may not be close to a "10". Its just something I appreciate when it happens in film cause its a fun oddity in real life as well as not enough "Good Women" in films are shown to be sleazy at the thought of sex.

The time period of this film was between Civil War and Infinity War, virtually a five-year period. Natasha had some personal things to take care of. Red in her ledger is never a good thing in her world. Enjoyed your excitement in watching this, Scarlett knows how to bring in the action and Taskmaster aka Drekov's daughter did such a good job as her villain. Ashleigh, watch Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Hawkeye. All those Marvel shows on Disney+ would be answering some of your questions.

She shows up to recruit a certain character at the end of the series. Then she shows up again in Black Widow to recruit Yelena. she then shows up again in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Great reaction! I really enjoy this movie, and am glad you do too. The attention to detail in Marvel movies is awesome! I saw in another comment that you were shocked about Loki mentioning Drakov's daughter. It's so fun to find these hidden details in the movies. One of my favorites is in Civil War, when we learn that Tony Stark's parents died on November 16 1991. If you look back in the first Ironman movie, the newspaper that has the headline of his parents death, is dated November 17 1991. Civil War came out 8 years later. Just love those details. Thanks for the great video!

As to why this film came so late, there's a big back story about that involving a long-time Marvel (and now Disney) executive named Ike Perlmutter. He had some rather "old school" ideas about what made comics and comic movies popular and eventually got into a power struggle with Kevin Feige over it. Feige eventually won out but it took a while.

You don't need to watch the X-Men movies to understand Wandavision. It just puts a very specific casting decision into context, but it's honestly more of a funny easter egg than anything. All you need to know is that X-Men is a Marvel product that technically takes place in the same world as the Avengers and they only recently decided to start crossing them over sometimes, due to previous legal issues.

The short version of why it took so long to get a Black Widow backstory is the guy in charge of the MCU before Kevin Feige didn't think a female lead movie would work and really pigeon holed the character for a long time because he was hiring writers who wrote women as if they had never met a woman in their lives.

You held up during that intro alot better than I did. I have two munchkins and I couldn't watch it straight through the beginning... frankly it made me sick that this happened to her and I realize that bad things happen but I just couldn't. Took me about an hour to get through those five minutes, to be real. Loved the movie but at the end in the end credit, there is an alternate version when Yelena whistles where natasha whistles back... but they didn't keep it in. So, regardless, I suspect later down the line we'll get more Natasha in the MCU. But that whistle at the end, broke me after everything else was revealed about her story... just heartbreaking.

Several of the Disney+ shows pick up the threads of several Avengers characters, with WandaVision, Loki, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye specifically continuing those characters' stories. They also set things up and feed into where the MCU will be going next, so they definitely aren't throwaway shows.
