After being treated like a joke for the whole film, this was Red Guardian's *one* moment to do something cool and show us what he's capable of... and we got a fight lasting less than one minute where he didn't even land a single hit. This should've started off with Taskmaster directly mirroring RG's fighting style, making them perfectly even until it becomes obvious that RG's super soldier abilities give him the edge - maybe TM lands the first couple of hits but he shrugs them off more easily than expected, and then he's able to hurl TM across the room. So at that point TM starts pulling out all the other heroes' moves to regain the advantage, including Black Panther, Black Widow etc, and maybe even finishing the fight with Cap's moves so that he's poetically beaten by his 'rival'.

The fact that Redguardian was so wasted in this fight. Being a super soldier whos fighting style taskmaster didn't recognise would give him the chance to have the advantage until his moves were learned and reflected back at him (you know taskmasters whole thing) would add some more fear to the combat prowess of the villain while giving redguardian a chance to actually fight "Captain America" or at least someone that has the ability to fight just like him.

@@ResidentialEvil Red Guardian might have been physically stronger (ie. would win an arm wrestle or tug-of-war contest), but he lacks form and technique, and you can see his fighting skills have clearly degraded over the years (being incarcerated in prison for who knows how long). While Taskmaster has the abilities of all the greatest fighters and warriors on Earth. Yes, there are clearly people who don't grasp the concept, just not the one you are thinking of. Strength alone only gets you so far. Oh and to point out, Taskmaster does actually possess super strength, via the chip her neck iirc, so even if you want to argue that point, it still wouldn't work.

Taskmaster is a confessed coward and has been since his first appearance when he fought the Avengers. In one of his better stories it was also revealed he had no long term memory due to his abilities and completely under the control of a mysterious spy. Sound familiar? And imitating does not always mean beating. Heck in the comics Black Widow is one of the few characters he ia geuinely afraid of. He frankly loses more then he wins. If i Directed this, Guardian woulda got punished enough to spit blood, even cut up by TMs claws. But he'd send TaskMaster through at least 3 walls in retaliation via body slams, punches, and throws. Like you hit him hard, Guardian is definitely hurting, but he hits back 3x harder because he a brawler. Red would then dent TMs shield with a serious uppercut, then TaskMaster would start using firearms to compensate because Red Guardian is THAT fucking dangerous. THEN homegirl can come in with the assist-- and then they take em down with a sick ass coordinated pincer move with homegirl doing some crazy ass h2h action & Guardian comes around snatching Taskmaster up & slamming em 3feet into the concrete in the floor. Homegirl widow stings TM until they can barely get them into the cell Guardian would be hurt like shit, we see the damage but he's not made to look helpless. Especially when he's supposed to be a Russian Cap. Anything like that would've been better than this.

Generally speaking, most people believe that Red Guardian is a weak character due to this scene. Reminder, Red Guardian isn’t weak. Movies and Comics the Red Guardian as a beast and is one of the most powerful experiments via Hydra. He may have lost, or completely lost in this brawl, the Red Guardian is incredibly strong and durable, as seen throughout his existence. But reminder, this is Taskmaster, a weapon in the body of a human, kinda like MODOK. Regardless if Red Guardian has far more strength and durability skills, he didn’t stand a chance in the first place. They had to nerf him because if this was more comically accurate Red Guardian, the fight would’ve ended quicker.

And that's because the character WAS ORIGINALLY MALE and the stunt man IS A GUY BECAUSE THEY ONLY CHANGED IT TO A GIRL LAST SECOND FOR SHOCK VALUE. Hence the extensive reshoots they had to do. Now let me ask you, how would you feel if they suddenly replaced black widow and made her a dude? Exactley same character just a dude.

Disney once again jobbing a character for the sake of furthering the plot. This was supposed to be the best fight in the film between two enhanced super soldiers but instead we got Taskmaster ragdolling a guy who could break bones and steel doors like bread sticks.

the red guardian is still verys trong, supported several times the hit from task masters shield , managed to avoid being stab also several times.good reflexes.asusually, only smart people understand the importance of always wearing a hellmet for dangerous activities.

not everyone liked this scene but I thought it was pretty good taskmaster kindve showed what he has copied and made is own in that scene hence panthers claws caps shield with caps fighting style mixed with black widows. pretty good.

Imagine they would've used the real Taskmaster and had him fight like he does. No way any one of the cast could have beaten him in a 1v1. So they would have actually needed to come up with something to defeat him in a outside the box kind of way.
