Okay but can we appreciate the ingenious features Tony implemented into the Hulkbuster armor? I mean, a mechanism in the arm that can trap the Hulk to take him out of inhabited areas. And a pod that can deploy spare parts in the middle of a fight. That last one is really cool because it shows that Tony is smart enough to know that instead of making a “invulnerable” suit that Hulk would just tear through, he created a design that could be easily repairable mid-fight to fix that issue. All of them are such brilliant ideas.

I really like the detail that Banner helped design this suit. The little guy knows how the big guy do, and built countermeasures. Things like the replacable limbs, the device that traps Hulk's hand, or whatever gas Tony was spraying Hulk with (probably a sedative) are likely Banner's ideas, based on his knowledge of how Hulk thinks and fights.

@@ricardoortiz4870Not really, he's clearly trying to beat the shit out of Hulk as much as he can, but he knows he can't win. He literally used everything he had in his arsenal. He was lucky that he was able to scan an entire building that was completely empty for some reason (plot armor, because if Iron Man loses, then no one stops Hulk for awhile and he starts killing large amounts of people). He used that building to his advantage by smashing Hulk through all those floors and then having it collapse on top of both of them. Hulk gets up first, and is getting angry again. If Hulk didn't calm down after taking a moment and seeing all those injured civilians, he would have already been angry again and continued rampaging, Iron Man would've lost.

Something I just noticed is you can tell exactly when Hulk "snaps out of it" 3:40 You can hear it in his groan. It's as if he's just awoken from the worst nightmare (which he literally just has) and takes a couple seconds to clear himself up. You can even see his skin change slightly after he calms down; from a muddy green to the jade giant we're all used to. It's minor details like that that keep me coming back to Phase 1 and 2 battle scenes

I love how well this shows Hulks resilience and power. Realistically, nobody else had any chance of stopping him except MAYBE Thor. Tony had a suit designed specifically for bringing down the Hulk and still nearly failed. He had to beat on hulk for four minutes and then drop a skyscraper on him before it slowed Hulk down enough to knock him out.

It’s fun to think how incredibly advanced even Tony’s normal suits were at this point. Compared to what he had in Iron Man 1, it makes Obadiah Stane’s War Monger look like a cheap used car. I mean, I would have rather seen Frat Hulk from Thor Ragnarok as that Hulk had a personality and some level of intelligence. This Hulk is little more than an animal running on base impulse emotions. If this Hulk (or rather, I assume you mean the 'good' Hulk since this specific Hulk was enraged to attack anything) was in End Game, he still would have been a liability to the Avengers. Frat Hulk would have been a solid, stable and unstoppable ally in the final fight. But I will agree that Professor Hulk was awkward and an absolute let down. Tony's face impression & witty dialog really make this fight memorable, rather than just seeing them fight hand to hand silently/screaming. Speak volume of RDJ's great acting as he's basically just facing a black screen/projected monitor. This fight scene is similar to man of steel (superman vs general zod, with lots of collateral damage and destruction) but tony's characteristic make this fight more enjoyable. Intricate details also give the character more depth i.e. Tony's gameplan was to bring Hulk as far away from city as possible, which indirectly showed his intelligence and overall awareness of the situation. This is showed throughout the fight which also escalate his resolution (i.e. trying to calm the Hulk, saving the elevator, quick scan if there's any human inside the building before destroying it). Unfortunately this is not implied when superman fight zod. Doing so would have add layers to superman overall character. It really doesn't make sense that superman forcefully killing Zod to prevent him from laser-killing a few people considering the collateral damage prior to that is much worse. For all the wittiness of Tony's character and MCU's level of humor, the MCU takes human lives more seriously than the dark tone of DCEU, where human lives are treated as acceptable collateral damage.

I don't really think that this is accurate at all as the fallout from Supermans fight with Zod shows that thousands of people were killed: Luthor's manipulation of Bruce's rage and paranoia over Supermans strength and the fact he received (seemingly) no punishment for his crimes showcased that not everyone was at all happy with how things played out. Most of the damage was also caused by Zod, who stated outright-multiple times- that he would never stop until he was dead. There wasn't much they could actually do to stop him other than that: there was no ability to send him to the Phantom Zone and taking him into space did nothing either, as shown when they continued to duke it out out of Earths atmosphere. Plus, keep in mind that at this stage Tony knows the kind of damage the Hulk can do and has been a superhero for several years at this stage, so he has a firm grasp of how to plan in combat and minimise collateral damage if possible. Superman had literally been fighting for a few days at best and was up against a frenzied alien soldier-God (compared to humans) who was more than happy to burn the entire planet down if it meant hurting Kal-El. That's the whole reason Superman was forced to kill him: because he knew that if he got free, Zod would destroy until there was nothing left. There's quite a few things you can criticise MoS for but the collateral damage argument just doesn't hold any water to me, given BvS and Justice League DO show the consequences of what Zod and Luthor end up doing.

I love the fact that this altercation is high key the greatest & arguably most intense and comic accurate MCU fight of the entire ongoing franchise. Say what you will about Joss Whedon, and the contents of his character as a person; at least he understood the dynamics of these awesome characters without nerfing them like so many later entries happen to do. Every confrontation post this duel doesn't compare except for the Captain America movies.
