This takes me back! I worked in the tire industry for many many moons and I could tell you many stories of all the items and critters I have found in tires during that time. It is a good workout breaking them down, especially the big rig wheels and tires. That tire machine is such a blessing. I know it feels better having everything cleaned up! Thanks for sharing!

50 years ago my "after high school" job was breaking down tires for a small tire store. Their business model was to buy several hundred junk take offs from the wrecking yards, and then pay us youngsters 3.00/hr to take them apart and separate the trashed/ from the recap casing/ from the resale used tire. I also learned to use a regrooving iron tool to put some extra service life in them, however sketchy!

So glad you got a casing machine, watching you struggle with the pallet manual tool was painful. Too bad Rocky had to loose his castle but I'm sure he will find a new castle with the good casings and hoops. I spent a lot of time working a casing machine at my fathers service station as a young man. brings back good memories, never had that much water inside because they came off running cars
@1980bwc
@1980bwc Ай бұрын
When you dismount the casings, put the bare hoop on your balancer. Give it a spin with your hand and watch it. That will give you a good look at it, to easily see how true, or how warped it is. I worked at the county Co-op Tire Center [couldnt say "casing" there. The word "Tire" was in the name of the joint 😂] for alot of years. Some days, it was all day, 7:00-5:00, spent at the mounting & balancing machines, mounting up new sets of casings for customers. I used that technique alot on hoops, if customers were complaining about vibrations goin down the road, and i couldnt find any problems by simply looking at them.

I woke up with a Black Widow Spider on my chest!!! My wife gently woke me up, it was on my chest as it stood out as my shirt was light gray. What is more amazing is she was calm and quiet usually she freaks out lol...Anyways, she woke me up then she hit my chest with full force, and I swear she lightly bruised my ribs (chest was sore for over 1 week after). I can't blame her, oh well...at least the spider was gone afterwords. I guess she does care about me! This was at my brother's house in Boulder City, Nevada a few years ago. Stay Safe, nice to see family videos. Albeit when you say casings and especially "hoops" it makes me laugh. Tires and wheels for myself, oh well.. Nobody's perfect!

Dear Sleeperdude family. 😱 Black widows! Good heavens. 🙈 I'm really glad that we don't have these in Germany (at least not yet). 2) Please kindly allow me to suggest something that can be helpful in the future: a) I always keep the somewhat decent tubes to make rubber rings/straps out of them. Cut across (using sturdy scissors) = short rings/straps, cut lengthwise = longer rings/straps. Those free rubber rings/straps are useful for a lot of things. b) I also keep at least one tube to cut rubber washers and seals out of it. Also rubber pieces/patches for several uses. c) Tubes from semi truck ti... uhm... casings are even better because the rubber is thicker and the rings/straps will be wider/bigger and stronger. As always: Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you (including all the animals).
