I think 10 years ago, the movie probably wouldn’t have been made more so because there was a sense that a handful of lackluster female lead comic book movies (Elektra, Catwoman) was the standard. If Marvel would’ve gotten this in during (late) Phase 1 or Phase 2, I think it’d been a success. No offense Scarlett (and I’m one of the people who’ve wanted this movie for years), I think there’s been examples of women picking each other up that’ve traumatized in media.
