Continuing our coverage of the newest MCU film Black Widow we wanted to take a look at the ultimate mercenary... Taskmaster. Taskmaster is actually a man named Tony Masters, who was born with a rare gift of photogenic reflexes. He can mimic anything he sees just by observing it. Instead of using that ability for good, he becomes a super villain. Even worse he opens the Taskmaster Academy, a school for training other villains and henchmen for villains.
He is a main villain for Captain America, Deadpool, Moon Knight, Black Widow, and many, many, many other heroes. Check out todays video and learn everything you need to know about the comic origins of Taskmaster.

Key Issues Thanks! After finishing the video, HOLY CRAP TaskMaster is so ridiculous. He’s so incredibly different from other comic villains. Even though he can’t copy superpowers, or can forget through overwriting his own memory: having his energy swords, webbing, and claws is so amazing and such a great novelty concept. This makes me so much more Hyped for BW.

He doesn’t realize naturally at a young age that he has photographic reflexes then join S.H.I.E.L.D. when he gets older. It was two different writers giving him two different back stories that contradict each other.

Yeah, and I'm not a fan of the SHIELD backstory at all. I preferred his more simple backstory of being born gifted, like Bullseye with his perfect aim. That whole SHIELD stuff is just too convoluted.

By the logic of that story his wife is responsible for all the people he’s been hired by for mercenary contracts and she’s at the controls in the background? Doesn’t make any sense.

Yes! In the 2002 mini series he was watching a cooking show and learned how to cook exactly like the chef! Taskmaster was preparing dinner for this girl he was dating. Truth!

Taskmaster can in fact copy Deadpool's individual moves, that's what folks are mistaking. Taskmaster cannot predict his moves though because his moves are so unpredictable. It's like playing a fighting game. Taskmaster can do any individual move you do, but trying to comprehend every single Special Move, counter and Super Move all while figuring out what you'll do next proves to be too difficult for him when it comes to someone as unpredictable as Deadpool. It's not like Taskmaster cannot copy a punch, kick, sword swipe or gun trick that Deadpool does but if he decides to let's say start break dancing or moonwalking in the middle of all of his attacks then that would throw Taskmaster off in copying Deadpool's fighting style. It's the unpredictability that gets Taskmaster not his inability to copy Deadpool. Deadpool is good but he's not that good as a lot of folks try to make him out to be. Moonknight on the other hand is worse for Taskmaster to the point where he *refuses* to copy his abilities due to Moonknight's straight up unorthodox defense in his fighting style. Moonknight would rather take a hit, regardless of how fatal it maybe, IF that means he can hit confirm you back in return. In essence, Moonknight would rather take a punch than to block it and Taskmaster isn't having none of that.

That would be an awesome fight! I do believe Deathstroke would win in the end though. He just much faster and stronger. Then a human can be. He can think way faster too. The only reason he beats Batman. If Deathstroke did not have those SuperPowers Batman would beat him. But Taskmaster has a lot of styles to pull from with perfection a Peak Human level.

Task Master has always been one off my favorite villains! I was so hyped when we learned that he would be one of the main antagonists in Black Widow! Ok so I want references to Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 in this movie. There could be a scene where BW is analyzing footage of TM fighting and she can say some thing like, " he has the aim of Hawkeye and shield skills." Then another person would say "just like cap". In Umvc3 when TM shoots arrows he says "aim of hawkeye" when he uses his shield he says "shield skills " or sometimes he'll say "just like Cap" instead.

You are getting the word wrong. Its *photographic* not photogenic. Photogenic means something that looks attractive, photographic means resembling photographs, in this case perfect reflexes. So Taskmaster doesn't have beautiful reflexes, he has perfect reflexes.

Because Deadpool has no obvious tells for how he’ll fight. Most people who spar will learn their opponents patterns after a while making it easier for them to predict their moves. Like if someone often follows up their jab with a hook/uppercut combo it’s something you can make note of and even predict based on how they set up the next punch. But in the case of Deadpool he’s so wild that in their first battle he literally started dancing after getting his ass handed to him. Taskmaster had no clue what Deadpool was gonna do because he hadn’t seen him do this before, and because he relied to much on observing his opponents before fighting them he failed to react properly. Which is usually the problem he encounters.
