I think it's pretty clear that the Black Widows were given some form of low-level supersoldier serum. They got it to work for Red Guardian, so I can't see why they wouldn't try again. And, considering how many injuries and explosions both Natasha and Yelena survive, it's the only logical explanation

For the record, since you guys are watching all the Marvel movies, go back to the original Avengers, the scene where Nat is talking to Loki. Loki tells Nat that Hawkeye told him everything about Nat, including “Drakov’s daughter.” At the time, no one knew what that meant, but this movie explains it. Nat felt guilty for years for using Drakov’s daughter to get him, never knowing that she survived that blast. My favorite thing about this movie is that we finally know what happened in Budapest! I just wish it came out in its proper time slot within the MCU. Great movie!

The coinciding events with this movie is Cap and Bucky against Iron Man somewhere is Russia. Black Panther is also there confronting Zemo. Rhodes is in hospital with a hurt spine. Peter Parker is probably home doing homework. Hawkers, Falcon, Wanda and Antman are all in the Raft prison. Vision is probably the only one guarding the Avengers compound

Jane: "How did none of the Avengers...?" 1. The Red Room was hovering over the middle of Russia, an already famously secretive (and MASSIVE) country. 2. What Avengers? This happens immediately in the aftermath of Civil War - the Avengers are toast. Also, they probably have bigger things to worry about right now, and most likely just aren't in the mood for "some weird skirmish" in the skies over backwater Russia. Just a guess. Also, FWIW, there is no SHIELD. That was dismantled a couple years prior to this during The Winter Soldier. Remember? ;)

And *Melina's* dead pan delivery 39:30 _"…slight change of plan…"_ ~Melina¹ 41:05 *_"Didn't anyone hear about this? Iron Man or Vision or Thor?"_* I always found this a strangely common criticism. First, a number of them are imprisoned after Civil War. But that aside, we have to consider _how would they find out?_ This giant *_hidden_* fortress over Russia starts to crash. . _.how do they find out about this?_ Let's say they found out about it instantly - perhaps via a *Stark* satellite - then *Tony* would be the one. How long would it take them to actually get there, assuming they were actually ready to roll? I mean if *Vision* was hiding away with *Wanda,* I doubt that he'd be watching the news ready to go at a moment's notice (and I think we could all agree that there was no news footage *_during_* this incident). And *Thor* certainly doesn't watch the news.² If *Tony* were to find out, _assuming he felt it was his place to do something,_ he would still have to get there. In the few minutes it took for this incident to happen, it would be over with. IMO that's often the case when this question comes up. But maybe that's just me.🤷🏼‍♂️ Of course, that's the in-universe explanation. The more practical one simply being _they are making a _*_Black Widow_*_ movie._ 😏 The dog's name, _Fanny,_ was *Natasha's* alias when she lived in Norway. 🐕‍🦺 Ultimately, *Florence Pugh* is the best thing since sliced bread! I feel like i have to keep pointing this out. MCU Avengers kill. Cap has, Thor has, Tony has, Sam has, etc… They are not bound by the comic book rules and NEVER HAVE BEEN. Like secret identities, it’s mostly the exception rather than the rule. Especially the original Avengers. It’s why Ultron called them “killers in service to killers.” “Liars and killers, actually, but it’s the killer part that’s relevant here. What’s hilarious is that hardly anyone noticed because their kills are bloodless. Tony killed SEVERAL people in Iron Man alone. Wanda killed a bunch of people on accident, as a tactical mistake, and Tony turned on her. And no one ever bothered to get her some goddamn counseling. Most powerful magic user on the planet and no one bothered to help her in that way. Not even the sorcerer supreme. Then again, Tony mentally plowed through his own PTSD, so why can’t everyone, eh?

I know there are quite a few fans that dislike Captain Marvel and Black Widow because they “can’t relate” to what the characters go through, or the themes that penetrate the film, but as a female fan I love them and really appreciate them. Carol Danvers is the perfect example of the “control your emotions” and “why don’t you smile more?” comments we get from other men, telling us that we have to constantly prove ourselves to be just as good, and Black Widow with the trafficking of young girls because Dreykov says they “have no value”…it always breaks my heart because it DOES happen in real life. I really like Natasha’s journey in this film, with her facing her past and taking down the entity that enslaved her and thousands of other girls into doing a gross, old man’s dirty work to control different aspects of the world. I would say it’s in the middle of my list of favorite marvel movies because of this.

The last part of this is hilarious- from the way you guys keep calling Valentina "Elaine" to "Captain Planet!" Fantastic. HOPE you guys watch HAWKEYE soon (Disney Plus) to catch up with Yelena/Clint, etc. Wyatt Russell is Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell's son. NO MORE GARFIELDS!! Hawkeye is EXCELLENT! Don't miss it!! Also, Black Widow did NOT get poor reviews: 91% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. The reason Scarlett sued was because the Box Office wasn't that great only because it was released online simultaneous to in theaters. Overall I enjoyed the movie but the magic red mist was such an underwhelming cop-out. Especially with Taskmaster. She really shouldn't have been mind-controlled. I wouldn't mind if they somehow convinced her to stop just not using some magic pixy dust.

I, in no way, claim to know anything about these movies but w/ that said - I loved this origin story. The darkness was similar to that of a DC flick but darker. They invented the idea of our girls in those places... Then there's the beauty & ballerina fluidity incorporated in every bada** fight scene. All layered together under a blanket of family bonding & a Live-Laugh-Love kinda moment. In Natasha's case, fortifying who she is & where she came from with support & the hope that she can bring her Avenger family back together. Yelena and the other black widows showed another beautiful relationship building factor. Yelena is my spirit animal now 😊

One thing to remember is The Avengers are broken up at this point in time and the Sokovia Accords are enacted. So Iron Man, Vision can’t help her unless approved by the UN. The others like Cap/Falcon are on the run or imprisoned. And Thor/Hulk are not on Earth. So she’s basically on her own

Mark 21:37? Yay, Jane! 🎊🎉 Thanks for remembering that! Her and Gal Gadot, have that in common. Scarlett, was seven months pregnant in the movie in which, "Black Widow", leaps off of a highway overpass, so that she's able to rope or cable swing into action underneath it. 👍
