Jay is at the heart of this sketch. He was the one who complained about the lack of black women on the cast in the first place. It may have cost him his job but it did the program well and this is one hell of a meta sketch!

Kind of a slap to all the other comedians including Kenan who did dress up that way on various occasions, but on the other hand he had a relevant point, SNL badly needed to hire atleast 1 black actress though this wasn't the only reason he quit SNL...

Well this is a bit late, but he did an interview where he explains why he was fired. They call it a "diss interview" but he didn't really diss anyone, he said he liked and respected Lorne Michaels still and everyone he worked with is cool, but I guess he just hated being told what to do at his job. Regarding people who want SNL to cast for talent first and diversity second, I get that, but one of the main points of this sketch is that hiring a whole bunch of white people limits the types of sketches they can do. Whether or not you think shows like this need a more diverse cast from a social standpoint, not having one means that when the writers come up with a sketch about black women or asian men, it probably won't ever make it to the stage regardless of how funny it is.
