I'm curious - here's a question, just for fun: would hydraulic MTB brakes that run mineral oil - let's say high-end, four-piston affairs from reputable brands - be adequate for use on a minibike? I mean I see them being factory installed on Surron/Talaria-level ebikes, so how would they fare on a gas-powered minibike?

Would work great. These minibikes are so light and really don't need crazy brakes to stop. I'd say anything over 35-40mph you need hydro brakes because the standard cheap cable brakes wear so fast. People usually run 1-2 valve hydro brakes on minis.
