This happened to me, but I was able to protest vehemently and the Police went away, eventually. I work with children, it would have ruined my career. All because I wrote a letter to a "friend" who had deeply betrayed me and my family, telling them how I felt and the damage they had caused. It wasn't threatening, I didn't swear, I just told the person of the effects my and my family and how I never wanted to see them again. The Police agreed it wasn't threatening, but the person felt "hurt" by my letter. It very nearly devastated my career. It was done to cause the most harm to me, upon the harm already inflicted and that isn't right. We cannot go down the road of banning expression of feelings and opinions. This must stop. Labour must halt this legislation. I joined the Free Speech Union (UK) recently and urge others to do so.

A few years back some heiress of summat and her fella had their place in London broken into and millions worth of jewellery stolen and the police were all over it. If someone breaks into my house and steals my toaster, I expect the police response to be the same. @ Ive lived in Pakistani areas, I have nothing against Pakistanis, but there are radicals who preach it on the street yes and have even said it on TV. We wouldn’t platform people who explicitly say to kill gay people but that is what is being said when someone says they want Sharia. There are statistics suggesting there are a lot of people who would like Sharia law in the UK, and what that means for me is theres a lot of people that would like to see me killed. It should be understandable that I would find discomfort in that and would interpret anyone advocating it as inciting violence.

@@minkgin3370 If you are a pensioner, then a few months in pokey isn't a bad thing, particularly during the winter. You get your clothes, laundry, meals all provided free of charge. It is nice and warm and they have medical care available on-site, lots of company plus they come and check-up on you through the night to make sure you are OK. You if you can't get locked up for thinking, then you could fail to pay your council tax or TV licence - both of which can land you in prison. Don't mess about with a burglary - that is only community service these days as it is not serious enough.

Aah, did you watch protesters being arrested for holding up a blank piece of paper? Well we've had arrests for silently praying, and a vicar taken in for questioning after protesting the arrest of the person for silently praying so it is life imitating art. It reminds me of the sketch with Rowan Atkinson playing the police superintendent taking to task a subordinate for arresting one particular man over a hundred times on charges such as stepping on the cracks of the pavement, walking in a built up area during the hours of darkness whilst wearing a loud shirt, and having an offensive wife. In that sketch the arrests were based on colour of the individual, nowadays it is anyone who does not accept the narrative spouted by the government, even when their narrative and policies defies logic or the facts, and is not in the interests of the country or its people, the person to be arrested being those willing to point out and oppose those inconsistencies.

It took me 7 hours to get through to my council on the phone today about my council tax, i did this to prove a point to them that pensioners don't have internet or laptops, don't leave the house as it's freezing outside, to get to a life centre as the town halls n post office's have been closed and the only way they can pay is online, and they can't do that. This country has gone mad as local council's are charging pensioners council tax but full council tax and it's wrong after they can't claim pension credit as they don't know how to

I work in the civil Service, a department that requires people to fill out forms. I am constantly told by the people who I assist with this (Either by answering their queries or by completing it for them and sending out for them to sign) that my department is extremely unusual in that a. Our number is both Public and on every letter we send out b. Our lines are appropriately manned and we answer quickly (usually less than 10 minutes wait and often no queue at all) c. We actually try to help people, and don't obfuscate. I am constantly told that Councils are impossible to get hold of and when you do extremely difficult to deal with, often refusing to use basic common sense and extremely quick to seek legal action.
