I remember hearing about this story on tv decades ago (I was a child). I think it was on Unsolved Mysteries or something like it. As usual, you explained many more details than others have done in the last 32 years. Considering they were wealthy and lived in an aero community one would àssume that she would of had a more elaborate tomb. That speaks volumes of how her husband really felt about her. I wonder if the son suspected his father of his mother's murder back then or even now. I also wonder if he ever accepted this killer as his stepmother. In my opinion, Mr Warren needs to be in prison as well. How convenient to be out of town when this murder happened. He knew that the spouse is always the first suspect. If he truly did play a role in this, it is very sickening that he would plan this knowing that his child would be at home to witness this tragedy. It baffles me how he was having an affair with this woman that was described by many as an aggressive tomb boy when he had a lovely wife at home. Even if he is never charged he will have his judgement day. What's done in the dark will always come to light.

As usual you have presented a very interesting background of the circumstances of the death of Marlene Warren. 30 years later due to DNA and the diligence of the detectives it sounds like it has been solved. I was looking this case up. The husband Michael Warren was quoted as saying"They didn't have anything me then, they don't have anything on me now." If that doesn't sound like a guilty person, I don't know what does. My opinion is that he either helped plan the murder and/or he know what was going to happen. Very common story: the husband has an affair with another woman, wants the wife out of the picture but doesn't want to divorce her and be forced to give her half of his stuff. How the hell it took this crack detective team so long to figure it out is mind-boggling.

The Purple Cow restaurant is in a town about 45 minutes from where I live. I actually work with a lady who met Sheila Keene Warren after she and Michael Warren sold the Purple Cow and retired. When they moved to Virginia, they lived on South Holston Lake. The lady I work with is friends with a lady who also lives on the lake. She met Sheila and Mike but Sheila was introduced as "Debbie". She was around them several times. The friend of hers was even listed as a witness on Sheila/Debbie and Michael's marriage certificate. She realized this after Sheila was arrested and the story was covered on the news. She was shocked to say the least. So far, Michael is waiting on Sheila to be released from prison but I do think capital murder is on the table so, she may not be getting out. The lady I work with said she will definitely be following the trial.

Yes, Sheila has been held without bond for a few years. She was denied bail because of the seriousness of her crime; she is also considered to be a flight risk because of the wealth that she and her husband inherited from their victim.
