I am clergy at Salem UMC in Harlem! Frederick Cullen (Countee’s adopted dad) founded my church. I never tire of learning of this legacy! Countee’s poetry… the Dubois wedding! It’s all so amazing!

In 7th grade we had to memorize and recite a poem by our favorite poets. I did "Baltimore" by Countee Cullen....left the whole class speechless!😂

Marriage was annulled. Cullen and Richard Wright were my introduction to poetry and literature.

Have you considered other Harlem Renaissance writers such as Alain Locke and Langton Hughes.
